The world of badminton was 'shocked' by the 'all-Indonesian' finals.

The Australian Open - the last prestigious badminton tournament of 2025 - witnessed an explosive wave from Indonesian players.

The Australian Open is part of the BWF World Tour Super 500 system and is the last prestigious tournament taking place before the World Tour Finals (annual finals) of badminton.

This year's tournament also brought together many players in the world's top 10 such as An Se Young, Miyazaki, Intanon, or Rankireddy - Shetty... But then the athletes from Indonesia dominated when the tournament entered the final stage.

Except for the men's singles event, Indonesian badminton stars dominated 4/5 final matches of the tournament, from the women's singles event to the doubles events.

In the women's singles, Putri Wardani (world No. 7) was seeded No. 2, and she maintained a very stable performance throughout the tournament.

Wardani did not lose any set in the first three matches. In the semi-finals, the Indonesian girl had a fierce battle with Michelli Li (seed number 7) and won with the score of 17-21, 21-16, 21-18.

In the final, Wardani will face the player who has dominated women's singles badminton for the past two years, An Se Young.

Men's singles was the only event in which Indonesian players did not perform successfully at the tournament, when star Jonatan Christie stopped in the first round.

On the contrary, the Indonesian men's doubles players shone when turning the final match into a civil war of the archipelago's badminton village. The pair Alfian - Fikri (seeded number 5) will face the pair Indra - Joaquin.

Indra and Joaquin, both in their early 20s, are promising Indonesian players. In the semi-finals, they shocked the world by beating the second seeded pair from Malaysia - Fei and Izzuddin.

Another “all-Indonesian” final also took place in the women’s doubles. The Indonesian players were not even seeded in this event, but still defeated a series of powerful opponents to advance to the final.

Thus, Indonesia will win at least 2 championships in the tournament, and can win up to 4 championships. This is really a shock to the top badminton world, because up to now, only China has enough top athletes to be able to "cover" such a prestigious tournament.
