Ms. Le Thi Nga, Deputy Village Chief of Thai Hai, said: "These days, villagers have temporarily stopped all personal work and stopped receiving tourists to focus on cooking to support people in flooded areas."

All food is raised, grown and prepared by the villagers themselves. The village kitchen can serve more than 1,000 guests, making it very convenient for large-scale cooking.

According to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, as of October 8, the whole province had more than 5,400 damaged and flooded houses; of which, more than 5,096 houses were isolated and 490 households had to be urgently evacuated.

Ms. Nga added: “After storm No. 11, the village also suffered landslides, damaging part of the landscape, but that is insignificant compared to the difficulties that people in Thai Nguyen are going through. We want to devote all our efforts to support, with the spirit of 'the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves'.”

Thai Hai village was built nearly 20 years ago by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai - a woman passionate about Tay culture. More than 200 people here live together like a big family: eating together, sharing belongings, doing community tourism and each family's income is contributed to the village's common fund.

Here, villagers do not compare or distinguish between rich and poor, but instead have a spirit of solidarity, love and willingness to help each other every day.
