Located about 30km from the center of Hanoi, Tu Van village has nearly 80 years of developing the traditional craft of sewing and embroidering national flags.
The craft of making national flags has been preserved and developed by generations of Tu Van villagers. Tu Van villagers are always proud to contribute flags to historical events and major holidays of the country.
During the days leading up to the National Day celebration on September 2nd and the start of the new school year, the sewing workshops in the village are always busy, filled with the color red, and the machines run at full capacity to meet continuous orders.
One of the long-standing households in sewing and embroidering national flags, Mr. Phuc, the owner of a long-standing business in Tu Van village, said that there are currently many families in the village that have been sewing national flags for four generations. Sticking to the traditional profession, the work is sacred, proud and brings a stable source of income to the lives of those who do the job.
"The stages from cutting fabric to sew flags in different sizes to printing stars, logos, embroidery, sewing... are all meticulously done with the dedication of the villagers. We are aiming for products of the highest quality," Mr. Phuc added.
Especially with large flags to be transported to the islands, to withstand the characteristics of sun and wind, from the stage of choosing the fabric material to the stages of producing the flag, everything must be meticulously taken care of...
The flag, when printed with a yellow star on top, will be dried for ink.
The flags have been completed.
Hand-embroidered flags usually take 2 to 3 days, but for beginners it can take a whole week. Each stitch and needlework must be very precise.
Skilled hands create every detail on each flag produced here.
The completed flag is folded and packaged for delivery to the customer.
Currently, large-scale production households in Tu Van are also equipped with modern machinery, automatically programmed on computers, so the precision is high, the fabric cutting speed is fast, the details are sharper and also meet the needs of large groups of goods.
The flags made by the talented and diligent hands of Tu Van craftsmen are always durable and shiny over time, flying all over the country. That is the pride and also the belief that the national flag sewing profession of Tu Van village will last forever.
