Listening to the waves of the ocean with Truong Anh Quoc

It was not until three years later, after the very popular travel novel Waves, that "writer of the ocean" Truong Anh Quoc, author of many popular books: Murmuring Sea Waves, Early Flood, Saturday Afternoon Contract, The Sea..., released a new work about the vast ocean: Listening to the Waves in the Open Sea (published by the Writers' Association Publishing House).

Coming from a background as a marine electrical engineer and having worked with ships for many years, writer Truong Anh Quoc has a whole "treasure trove" of documents about the open sea. Therefore, some of his works on the subject of the sea and daily life have won many prestigious awards: Second prize in the 3rd Literature Contest for 20-year-olds (2005), Second prize in the 4th Literature Contest for 20-year-olds (2010); Second prize in the short story contest of Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper (2012), Fourth prize in the short story contest of Van Nghe Quan Doi magazine (2013); Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association Award (2019)...

Each month-long voyage, passing through many different countries around the world and interacting with many colleagues of all backgrounds and nationalities, has given the author countless good stories. "Once I finish my work on the ship, I take advantage of the time to sit at my desk and diligently write. The stories I see and hear at sea, those real-life characters just enter my writings as naturally as I lie down and listen to the waves every day," Truong Anh Quoc confided.

Talking about Trung Khoi Nghe Song, writer Ho Anh Thai commented: "Truong Anh Quoc has a forte with the theme of the sea. Whenever he mentions the sea, his writing becomes open-minded and the seafarer's temperament also opens up.
