Masterise Group has just released a document inviting architectural design competition for the Passenger Terminal at Gia Binh International Airport to units with experience in designing the world's leading international airports. Among them is Nikken Sekkei (Japan) - the design unit of Terminal T2 of Haneda International Airport (Tokyo), a project that meets Skytrax's 5-star standards and has been in the Top 5 best airports in the world for many years.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill - SOM (USA), the design unit of Terminal T3 of Changi International Airport (Singapore) - the airport that has been awarded the title "World's Best Airport" by Skytrax for many years. Gensler (USA) is the design unit of Terminal T2 of Incheon International Airport (Korea), certified 5 stars by Skytrax and honored in the Top 10 leading airports in the world.
Masterise said it will establish a Jury Board of 11 international and domestic experts, including leading architects and scholars from the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia and China, along with representatives of management agencies and experts in the fields of aviation, architecture and planning. The competition aims to select the optimal solution, ensuring architectural quality and operation according to international standards.
Previously, in the project proposal, Masterise emphasized the architectural competition with at least 3 leading design units in the world to create a terminal that is a national symbol of culture and architecture, meeting international standards in terms of function, security - safety and service quality. The architectural plan is expected to have a distinctive mark, integrating indigenous cultural elements, applying modern technology and meeting the requirements of environmental friendliness, sustainability and class.
Gia Binh International Airport is positioned as a smart - green - sustainable airport, Skytrax 5-star standard and belongs to the group of airports with excellent passenger experience (ASQ) according to the assessment of Airports Council International (ACI).
The investor orients Gia Binh to become the Northern aviation gateway, a passenger and cargo transit center, and an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) center of the Asia- Pacific region . This is expected to become a new growth engine for the Capital region and the Northern key economic region.
The project is expected to reach level 4F according to ICAO standards, receiving new generation wide-body, long-range aircraft. The designed capacity by 2030 is about 30 million passengers/year and 1.6 million tons of cargo/year; by 2050 it is expected to be 50 million passengers/year and 2.5 million tons of cargo/year.
