At the meeting, a representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said: The progress of waste treatment projects for power generation is still slow, causing difficulties in coordinating waste between localities. This leads to a backlog of waste, the emergence of many temporary landfills, and the potential risk of environmental pollution.

To overcome the difficulties, the Department of Agriculture and Environment proposed that the Provincial People's Committee assign the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to review, update and integrate the planning of solid waste transfer and treatment infrastructure into the provincial planning. The Department of Industry and Trade shall preside over reviewing the allocation of power generation capacity and the adjusted contents of waste-to-power projects compared to the National Power Development Plan, and at the same time update it into the provincial planning. The People's Committees of communes, wards and towns urgently review and report to the Department of Construction on the planning and investment of domestic solid waste transfer stations for early operation.

To achieve this goal, it is necessary to synchronously deploy solutions from management, planning of treatment areas to investing in projects applying modern technology. Along with that, it is necessary to invest in building a system of transfer stations, ensuring effective waste collection and treatment.
