However, building a worthy "meeting place" to regularly display and promote literary and artistic works is still a common desire of many artists in the province.

Lack of advertising space

Nestled along the Dong Nai River, Hien Nam Pottery Workshop (in Bien Hoa Ward) is where artisan Hoang Ngoc Hien devotes all his heart and soul to artistic creation. Vases, ceramic statues, and artworks that have been selected for display at provincial, regional, and national exhibitions, some of which have won high awards, now lie scattered in a corner of the small workshop.

Ceramic artist Hoang Ngoc Hien pondered: “Creating a work of art is difficult, but finding a place to display, promote, and meet the public is even more difficult. Most of the works are only displayed in short-term exhibitions, then have to be stored away, waiting for an opportunity to be introduced again. It has been like that for many years. It is not easy to sell, and there is no place to display them.”

Poet Trieu Quoc Binh, Literature Department, Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association said: Previously, the Binh Phuoc Literature Association (old) had a regular meeting point, meeting every month to exchange creative ideas and contribute ideas for works. After the province merged and the two-level local government model was implemented, artists and writers were very happy to be able to go to the "wide sea, long river", but lacked a common space to meet regularly like before.

“The artists of Binh Phuoc (old) hope to have a “meeting place”, a space where people can come to exchange, share works, or simply meet each other. That place does not need to have specialized staff on duty, just an open space and can be located in convenient areas such as Dong Xoai ward, Binh Phuoc ward… Thereby, creating favorable conditions for members to exchange, together create more new works” - poet Trieu Quoc Binh said.

Similarly, Mr. Tran Dinh Thang is one of the young sculptors of Dong Nai with many works winning regional and national awards. He has 2 works on wood and iron soldering materials that were purchased and displayed at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. In addition, he also has a number of stone sculptures displayed at the Tran Bien Temple of Literature area.

“Sculpture is a type of art that requires a large space to display, but currently many works are often only displayed in short-term exhibitions, lacking connection. That is a pity, because the works are not only for viewing but also need to live with the public, to be accessed by the public regularly so that the artistic value can be fully spread,” Mr. Thang confided.

Talking about the space for creating and promoting works, musician Cao Hong Son, Music Department, Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association expressed: “I have a dream of a theater for the community, not a theater for any individual unit. There, artists can easily organize art programs to serve the community. Through that, artists can spread and promote their musical works widely among the people. Dong Nai is an industrial province with many workers living there, but currently there is no such theater.”

We expect that the arrangement of creative space and promotion of works for artists in the province will be implemented soon. Thereby, contributing to realizing the spirit of the Resolution of the 1st Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, bringing the province's cultural and artistic activities to develop in depth, while at the same time fostering aesthetics and building a rich and healthy cultural life for the community."

Vice President of Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association PHAM HIEN

Need a worthy "meeting place"

After the merger of the province, Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association has more than 600 members in 10 fields. With a strong creative force, talent and enthusiasm, Dong Nai possesses great potential to develop a rich and diverse cultural and artistic life.

From July 2025 to now, Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association has organized many large and small exhibitions of literary and artistic works. The exhibition locations are usually located in the space of the Provincial Square Park (Tan Trieu Ward) and the office area of Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association. Although they do not function as a place to exhibit paintings, art photos, books, newspapers, and magazines, these addresses are open spaces, creating conditions for authors of works and the public to meet, exchange, and share creative emotions.

Vice President of Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association Pham Hien said: Creating is a challenging process, but bringing the work to the public is even more difficult. Therefore, in addition to personal passion and effort, artists need a space for regular and professional creation, exhibition and promotion.

According to Mr. Pham Hien, the Provincial People's Committee has recently issued a policy to assign the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association and related sectors and localities to build a space for creation and exhibition in the Dong Nai Museum area. This will be a place to organize cultural and artistic activities to serve the political and cultural tasks of the province, and at the same time introduce and promote Dong Nai's typical cultural and artistic works to the public.

“This is a correct and timely policy. Currently, the exhibition space at the Dong Nai Literature and Arts Association Office is still cramped, while the Dong Nai Museum area is an open space, convenient for people to visit and live. Arranging this space will help the works get closer to the public, and at the same time create a meeting place, exchange and creation for the province's artists,” said Mr. Pham Hien.
