At the meeting, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province affirmed that, in recent times, on the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between Vietnam and China, with the orientation of building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, cooperation between Lang Son province and Guangxi Autonomous Region has been constantly consolidated, becoming one of the bright spots and exemplary models of local cooperation between the two countries. People-to-people exchange activities, culture, sports, education, health, border management, crime prevention and control, etc. have taken place vigorously. The two sides have expanded cooperation to new areas such as digital transformation, smart border gates, logistics, artificial intelligence, digital economy , etc.
In terms of economy and trade, thanks to close coordination between the two sides' authorities, the import and export of goods through border gates, dedicated roads, and customs clearance routes between Lang Son and Guangxi have been maintained stably and smoothly, contributing significantly to the total bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and China. In terms of infrastructure connectivity, the two sides have coordinated to upgrade and expand dedicated roads for transporting goods in key border areas, implementing the pilot project to build smart border gates at the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan international border gate pair; the Hanoi - Nanning international passenger train route has resumed operation, opening up opportunities to promote people-to-people exchanges, tourism , trade, etc.
The Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee proposed that in the coming time, the two sides continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the high-level common perceptions and agreements reached at the Spring 2025 meeting and the 16th Conference of the Joint Working Committee; carefully prepare for the Spring 2026 meeting and the 17th Conference in Nanning (China). Regarding economy, trade, and border gate connection, the two sides continue to coordinate to effectively operate new methods of goods delivery at the Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan and Chi Ma - Ai Diem border gates; soon put into official operation the Tan Thanh - Po Chai dedicated road, in order to maximize the convenience of goods and vehicles between the two countries and third countries.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Lang Son province suggested that Guangxi extend the working time and upgrade the traffic infrastructure on the Chinese side in the Coc Nam - Lung Nghiu area to meet the increasing demand for trade. Regarding border management and crime prevention, the two sides maintain a regular information exchange mechanism; closely coordinate in immigration management; fight against cross-border crimes, ensuring a peaceful, friendly and stable border, serving socio-economic development well.
The Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee hopes that the Chairman of Guangxi Autonomous Region will pay attention to and introduce Guangxi enterprises with potential, high technology, and advanced environmental standards to research and invest in Lang Son in the fields of renewable energy, agricultural and forestry processing, supporting industries, electronic components, logistics, and warehouse centers associated with the border gate system. The Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) emphasized that the talks contributed to strengthening the friendly cooperation in many fields between the two sides. Guangxi and Lang Son province have a long-standing friendly cooperation and exchange relationship. Recently, the connection of trade and infrastructure between Guangxi and Lang Son province has achieved important progress. Border management has been carried out effectively. The two sides have strengthened cooperation in the fields of law enforcement and joint inspection; prevention and combat of transnational crimes; and maintenance of stability in border areas.
In order to strengthen and deepen the friendly cooperation between the two sides, the Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) suggested that Lang Son province speed up the progress of building smart border gates. Currently, the construction items of smart border gates on the Guangxi side have reached the conditions for trial operation by the end of this year, ready to connect with the smart border gate system of Lang Son province. Therefore, Lang Son province directed relevant agencies to support and coordinate the rapid implementation of items of the smart border gate construction project so that the connection and operation are synchronous and convenient. The province promotes traffic and infrastructure connections, especially the implementation of the railway connecting Vietnam and China through the area.
The Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region hopes that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in developing cross-border tourism. In recent years, cross-border tourism between China and Vietnam has developed strongly. Vietnam has become a destination for many Chinese tourists and the number of Vietnamese tourists traveling to Guangxi has also increased quite a lot. In the first 10 months of 2025, Guangxi welcomed about 150,000 Vietnamese tourists. In fact, Lang Son province and Guangxi have many opportunities to cooperate and develop cross-border tourism.
