On November 13, 2023, the Committee for the Advancement of Women (VSTBCPN) of Lang Son province organized the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Gender Equality (BDG) and prevention and response to gender-based violence, commended outstanding female representatives in various fields and launched the 2023 communication campaign.
[caption id="attachment_539628" align="alignnone" width="768"]Gender equality is an important part of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, of which Vietnam is a member. Actions for gender equality contribute to ensuring human rights for all women in society. Lang Son's organization of the Month of Action for Gender Equality is a contribution to meaningful activities in the propaganda of human rights in the province.
Over the past years, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Committee for the Prevention and Control of Gender-Based Violence, all levels, sectors, districts and cities in the province have synchronously implemented tasks and solutions to gradually achieve important goals in implementing the national strategy on gender equality, the Program on Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence, and the Communication Program on Gender Equality in the province until 2030. The national strategy on gender equality has contributed to gradually putting the Law on Gender Equality into practice; awareness and responsibility of organizations, individuals and families on eliminating gender discrimination and gender stereotypes have been increasingly raised, towards substantive gender equality.
In all political , economic, cultural and social fields, both women and men have participated. Women of all classes have increasingly affirmed their roles and positions in the family and in society.
The Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2023 has the message "Ensuring social security, empowering and creating opportunities for women and girls to implement gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence", aiming to build Lang Son province to develop sustainably, without poverty, "leaving no one behind".
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested Party committees at all levels, departments, branches, socio-political organizations, People's Committees of districts and cities to continue to strengthen propaganda, dissemination, thoroughly grasp and seriously and synchronously implement the regulations of the Central and the province on gender equality work, for the advancement of women, creating a spreading effect as a premise for economic development and social security of the locality; respond to the Action Month with many activities, diversify forms of propaganda and training to raise awareness about gender, gender equality, prevention and combat of violence and abuse against women and children; Fully implement policies to support social security for people in general, women and children in particular, organize activities to support victims, women and children in difficult circumstances, and continue to effectively implement the Program on prevention and response to gender-based violence for the period 2021 - 2025 approved by the Provincial People's Committee; build an inter-sectoral coordination mechanism in implementing gender equality work to create a combined strength to raise the sense of responsibility of each cadre, party member and people of all walks of life in implementing gender equality.
[caption id="attachment_539627" align="alignnone" width="768"]Mr. Duong also suggested that every woman and girl should strive in their studies and work to affirm and enhance the role and position of women in society; acquire knowledge and skills to protect themselves, and be brave and strong in speaking out when faced with discrimination and violence.
At the ceremony, there was an exchange program to honor outstanding female representatives in the fields of economy, culture and society. At the same time, delegates watched a report on communication activities on gender equality and a skit on propaganda on gender equality and prevention and response to gender-based violence.
Immediately after the ceremony, cadres, soldiers, union members and association members participated in a media parade on the main streets of Lang Son city.
