Promote communication activities

At the end of April 2025, the Women's Union of Khanh Son district organized a launching ceremony for the Communication Campaign "For gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" in 2025. After the launching ceremony, cadres and members participated in a parade through the main roads in the district to promote gender equality; prevention and control of domestic violence; prevention and control of abuse of women and children... This is one of the activities in the propaganda work to change the "thinking and working style" of the people in general, women in particular, contributing to eliminating gender prejudices and stereotypes, harmful customs that the unions at all levels in the district have deployed when implementing Project 8 from 2022 to present.

Every year, all levels of the Women's Union organize communication campaigns to eliminate gender prejudice and stereotypes, and build a safe living environment for women and children. The District Women's Union develops plans, deploys them to 8 communes and towns, and provides funds to localities to organize direct dramatization of communication in the community. Recently, in Son Lam commune, the District Women's Union organized a dramatization of communication with the theme "Building a safe living environment for women and children". At the program, the communication teams of the Son Lam Commune Women's Union performed 4 skits including: The Way Home, Every Child is a Child, Awakening, Understanding . The skits reflect the situation of domestic violence occurring somewhere in daily life, backward thinking, male chauvinism and the consequences. From there, propagate to women's union members and people to prevent and combat domestic violence; gender equality; eliminate gender-based violence; Building a safe living environment for women and children... Ms. Vo Thi Hoang Tuyen - Vice President of the Women's Union of Son Lam commune said that the awareness of people in ethnic minority and mountainous areas is still limited, so propaganda in the form of dramatization through skits will help people understand social issues more clearly, quickly, and deeply and easily access the content being propagated.

In addition, every year, the District Women's Union also coordinates with the District Department of Culture and Information to organize competitions on: Prevention of gender-based domestic violence; prevention of abuse of women and children; exchange of communication initiatives between "Safe Address" models... Through forms such as: Poetry, folk songs, skits, answering questions, the participating teams propagate to the people many contents related to supporting victims of domestic violence when they come to take shelter at safe addresses; eliminating gender stereotypes, backward customs; preventing domestic violence, abuse of women and children, building a safe living environment...

Positive results

Up to now, the district has established 50 models and clubs to implement Project 8. Of which, there are 27 community communication teams, 8 safe addresses, 7 "Leaders of Change in Schools" clubs, 8 "Leaders of Change in the Community" clubs. From 2022 to present, the District Women's Union has organized more than 140 training courses, seminars, experience sharing sessions... for nearly 8,300 people. The contents informed and propagated are related to eliminating gender stereotypes, building a safe environment for women and children, and preventing and combating human trafficking; providing legal knowledge and communication skills, legal advice, knowledge and skills on preventing and combating sexual abuse, preventing and combating domestic violence; raising awareness among members about the model of trusted addresses, safe addresses; equipping skills on gender equality; how to establish, operate and operate a communication model in the community. At the same time, training skills in building and developing a livelihood model for members and women; guidance on building production and business plans, connecting markets to consume products; organizing dialogues between district leaders and women, etc. Thereby, contributing to changing and raising awareness of members, women and men in the district; reducing cases of domestic violence, early marriage and incestuous marriage; helping women to be more proactive and confident in applying the knowledge they have learned to production and family economic development. In addition, clubs and communication teams also conduct propaganda on preventing and combating drowning accidents; the harmful effects of drugs; preventing and combating firecrackers... for students, youth and women.

The District Women's Union has installed 38 propaganda billboards for Project 8 in localities; created, printed and distributed 14,000 communication leaflets on gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children; organized competitions, festivals, and communication initiative exchanges. The Union has established and guided teams to participate in the provincial "Community Communication Team" and "Good Leader" competitions in 2024 and won 1 second prize, 1 third prize...

Ms. Mau Thi Mong Mo - President of the Women's Union of Khanh Son district said that the association advised the district People's Committee to issue a specific plan to implement Project 8 each year to promptly deploy activities suitable to the actual situation in the locality. In the past time, the associations at all levels have organized many activities such as: Organizing competitions, exchanges, sharing between established communication groups, clubs, and models; organizing training and communication classes... In which, the association has transferred funds to communes and towns to organize communication activities in the form of dramatization. The activities organized directly in the community have attracted a large number of members and women to participate. The communication content is widely disseminated, and listeners are not bored when it is expressed through situations that occur in life. From there, improve the effectiveness of propaganda work of Project 8. Through the activities of Project 8, many positive changes have been brought about in the awareness and actions of women's union members and people in the district on gender equality, gender stereotypes; prevention and combat of child marriage and consanguineous marriage; knowledge about marriage and family. In the coming time, the union at all levels will continue to promote propaganda to help women have a deeper awareness and better understand their rights and obligations; recognize the role and responsibility of women towards the family, in political work and in society.
