On the evening of October 10, Lao Cai Provincial Police sent a report to the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and the Standing Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee on the results of response and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and storms.
According to the report, from July 2025 to now, Lao Cai province has been continuously affected by 6 storms and post-storm circulations. In particular, in just the last 10 days, due to the impact of storms No. 10 and No. 11, it has caused heavy damage to people and property of Lao Cai province.
Faced with complex natural disasters, Lao Cai Provincial Police have taken drastic actions, racing against time to protect people.
Specifically, under the direction of the Lao Cai provincial authorities at two levels, the police force urgently evacuated 51,026 people (from 11,232 households) from flooded areas, ensuring safety of life and limiting property damage. At the same time, more than 40,000 people (from 10,333 households) in 81 communes and wards at high risk of landslides and flash floods were also evacuated to safety.
This prompt action saved hundreds of lives. Reports show that 111 houses were completely destroyed by landslides between 30 minutes and 20 hours after 452 people were evacuated.
A report by Lao Cai Provincial Police emphasized that the proactive and determined evacuation campaign directly saved the lives of 452 people, avoiding a human tragedy.
