During the first and seventh lunar months of 2024, Sun World Fansipan Legend tourist area will offer free Muong Hoa mountain train tickets to all visitors from Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Hai Duong.
This announcement was made on September 24, 2023 in Sa Pa, Lao Cai, within the framework of the signing ceremony of tourism development cooperation for the period 2023-2025 between the Department of Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces.
5 provinces and cities signed an agreement on East-West tourism cooperation
The cooperation contents of the localities in the signing ceremony include: Connecting and exploiting the development of tourism products; communicating, promoting and cross-promoting tourism between localities; cooperating to attract tourists; promoting the role of tourism associations and finally improving the effectiveness of state management in exchanging information and managing tourism activities.
During the meeting, representatives of the five localities agreed to prioritize cultural and religious tourism as the most important branding factor in building experience packages and cross-promotion between localities. At the same time, the localities also committed to coordinating survey programs to build tourism products, incentive programs and discounts to stimulate demand, and cooperate to stimulate cultural and religious tourism in the Northeast - Northwest.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Ha Van Thang, Director of Lao Cai Province Department of Tourism, affirmed that the tourism stimulus cooperation program between the five provinces and cities is of great significance in connecting regional values, especially promoting local advantages, creating outstanding tourism products connecting the Northeast - Northwest, especially cultural, spiritual and religious tourism products that are attracting many tourists.

Also at the event, representatives of tourism associations and businesses also gave many comments to make the cooperation program more in-depth and effective. As a destination partner at the event, Sun World Fansipan Legend pioneered in announcing the first promotion program in 2024 for 5 provinces and cities.
Specifically, in 2 phases from February 19 to March 19, 2024 (lunar January) and from August 5 to August 31, 2024 (lunar July) on the occasion of Bao Ha Temple Festival, Lao Cai, Sun World Fansipan Legend will offer free Muong Hoa mountain train tickets for tourists from Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong. Currently, the round-trip ticket price for Muong Hoa mountain train is 150,000 VND/person.
The Muong Hoa mountain train was put into use in 2018, departing from Sun Plaza Hotel in Sa Pa town and ending its journey at the Fansipan cable car station, helping to shorten the travel time of visitors to 4 minutes instead of 15-20 minutes by car through winding mountain roads.
The train line is approximately 2km long, the longest mountain train in Vietnam to date, and is considered the most modern mountain train line in Vietnam, designed and constructed by Doppermayer and Garaventa from Austria and Switzerland.
The journey to explore the Northwest highlands by Muong Hoa train is like a movie with breathtakingly beautiful scenes. Departing from the station space in Sa Pa town with elegant ancient French architecture, the train with luxurious and impressive European-style interior will cross Muong Hoa valley, capturing the majestic Hoang Lien Son landscape and deep green mountains and forests, below are terraced fields like soft silk strips connecting to the horizon, dotted with peaceful houses in the morning mist and afternoon sun.
Nowadays, when visiting Lao Cai, especially in the early spring of the new year, besides Ong Hoang Bay Temple and Mau Son Sa Pa Temple, visitors cannot miss the pilgrimage to the spiritual complex on Fansipan peak at an altitude of 2,900 - 3,143m above sea level.
With the typical architecture of Vietnamese pagodas of the 15th and 16th centuries, the Fansipan spiritual complex consists of 12 constructions following the shape of the mountain, carved into the high mountains, like the mountain temples that were located at the sacred source at the headland of the Fatherland hundreds of years ago.
