Start a business in your hometown

After years of studying in the city, faced with countless career choices, many young people have decided to return to their hometown to start a career.

It may be a challenging journey but it is also filled with love for the land of one's birth, along with the desire to contribute and grow up right in one's homeland.

Graduated from the Medical Laboratory Technician major at Da Nang College of Medicine and Pharmacy (Da Nang City) in 2023, instead of staying in the city with many opportunities, Vo Thi Thuy Anh (in Ea Tih commune, Ea Kar district) decided to return to Buon Ma Thuot City. She determined that, returning to her hometown to find a job, her income may be less, but she has a family, a bond, and Thuy Anh believes she can find a job with a stable income.

Vo Thi Thuy Anh takes samples for testing for children at Tam Duc Children's Hospital.

Thuy Anh’s journey to find a job in Buon Ma Thuot City was not easy. After 9 months of apprenticeship at Buon Ma Thuot Medical and Pharmaceutical Hospital, she was unlucky to be accepted in the official interview. While waiting for the right opportunity, Thuy Anh did many part-time jobs to cover her living expenses and look for a job in her field.

In September 2024, Thuy Anh's efforts were "rewarded" when she was accepted into Tam Duc Children's Hospital. Thuy Anh shared: "The current salary is about 5.5 million VND/month, quite low compared to my personal expectations. I was a bit discouraged, but after thinking carefully, I found that starting out like this for a fresh graduate was quite good, I need time to gain experience. To increase my income, I do extra work selling online after work hours."

Unlike Thuy Anh, Le Hoai Nam (in Chu Kbo commune, Krong Buk district), a final year student majoring in Digital Marketing at FPT Polytechnic College (Ho Chi Minh City) has a more proactive approach to his plan to return to his hometown to start a business. Hoai Nam clearly defined his goal after completing his studies to return to his hometown to find a job and start a business.

To best prepare for this “return”, in addition to completing the study program, Nam actively gains practical experience by doing additional jobs running ads on digital platforms (Facebook ads, Google ads, TikTok ads) for many types of products. He often spends time researching the job market in Dak Lak province.

Nam said that every time he returns home, he participates in job fairs organized by the Provincial Employment Service Center in the districts of Krong Buk, Ea H'leo, Buon Ho town, Buon Ma Thuot city, etc. The purpose is to have a visual view of recruitment needs, salaries, working environment as well as specific requirements from employers. He believes that early research and accumulation of relevant experience will give him an advantage when officially applying for jobs at businesses in the province.

Nam’s careful and proactive preparation shows the different mindset of modern youth. They do not just finish school and then “leave it to fate”, but have a clear direction and preparation for the future as soon as they leave school.

The stories of Thuy Anh and Hoai Nam are two typical slices of the trend of young people returning to their hometowns to start a business. One person faces reality directly, perseveres and manages; the other is proactive, preparing carefully from afar. Both express the desire to develop and contribute to the land of their birth.
