This has directly affected water storage in reservoirs. The three large reservoirs – Van Truc, Bo Lac, and Suoi Sai – currently only hold 18-30% of their designed capacity, while medium and small reservoirs hold only about 10-35%. Many medium and small reservoirs have reached their dead water level and cannot drain water naturally.
The water level of the Lo River has dropped, rendering many riverside pumping stations inoperable. Irrigation work is particularly difficult, especially with the current trend of increasing heatwaves, making the need for irrigation water even more urgent.
Lap Thach Irrigation Company Limited has installed mobile pumps to supply water to rice fields affected by drought.
It is estimated that over 700 hectares of rice fields are currently affected by drought, significantly impacting yields. To save the rice crop and ensure its development, Lap Thach Irrigation Company Limited has been aggressively implementing drought mitigation measures.
Mobilize all available manpower and hundreds of mobile pumps, and organize transfer pumping to make the most of the remaining water in the reservoirs.
However, according to the company's assessment, the remaining water supply will only last for a few days. The company recommends that the People's Committees of the communes and farmers closely monitor their fields, prioritize water for high-yielding areas, conserve irrigation water, and especially make good use of recycled water to ensure crop yields.
