According to Allkpop, on March 19, Korean rapper Owen posted a freestyle rap video of himself on social media and tagged the girl group LE SSERAFIM.
Owen introduced this as “The Remix of LE SSERAFIM’s EASY”. The male rapper directly criticized the HYBE group, saying “LE SSERAFIM can’t sing live”.
Owen's diss rap comes from the fact that the group LE SSERAFIM has recently caused controversy when singing live on weekly music shows of Korean television stations.
LE SSERAFIM has just made a successful comeback with the mini album “EASY” and the title track of the same name. “EASY" has helped the group win on 9 weekly music shows so far (sweeping all 5 shows SBS’s Inkigayo, KBS’s Music Bank, Mnet’s M! Countdown, Show Champion and MBC’s Music Core).
However, many times HYBE's girl group caused controversy because of their poor live singing ability when receiving the trophy.
Many viewers believe that Owen's criticism of LE SSERAFIM is partly true, because the group's live singing has been discussed a lot. However, Owen's mocking attitude made many people disagree.
They think that the male rapper is just seeking attention with his offensive actions, not giving constructive feedback to LE SSERAFIM.
In addition, because this male rapper had previously made many controversial statements, the public did not have sympathy.
In 2021, Owen was accused of harassing Ryujin (ITZY) when he made sensitive comments about the female idol's rapping skills.
Owen also caused a wave of outrage when reports of his drug use were made public. The criticism was so great that the rapper had to leave Mnet's music program and had his image blurred when the show aired.
