While provinces and cities in the Southeast region have announced the benchmark scores for grade 10, the benchmark score announcement schedule in Binh Duong is expected to be released on July 26. Sharing with Dan Viet reporters, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province said that the benchmark scores are expected to be released 2 days earlier, on July 24. In addition, she also provided more information about the reason for not announcing the benchmark scores.

A representative of the Department of Education and Training said that the Department's human resources were too thin after the 10th grade exam was held in early June. The Department focused on marking and announcing scores on June 20, then had to focus on human resources to prepare for the national high school graduation exam at the end of June. After completing the high school graduation exam, the Department of Education and Training can complete the re-examination and focus on making the benchmark scores for admission to 10th grade at public high schools.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong province said that the benchmark scores for grade 10 are expected to be announced 2 days earlier than the original plan of July 26.

This year, the average score of candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam is 5,227, an increase of 0.32 points compared to the 2023-2024 school year. Ms. Hang shared that this is a worthy result, because the Department of Education and Training has had a direction in preparing questions for the following years of the 2018 General Education Program. In addition, this result also shows that the quality of teachers' teaching and the quality of candidates have been improved compared to the previous school year.

According to Ms. Hang, the calculation of the benchmark score also depends on the scores of candidates applying for admission to grade 10 public high schools and the results of the review (expected to be announced on July 22, 2024), so it is difficult to predict if not arranged.

"However, with the high average score of candidates, it is very likely that the admission score for grade 10 high school this year will be higher than last year," Ms. Hang shared.

This year, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in Binh Duong has 23,921 candidates registered to take the exam. The total enrollment quota for public high schools is 13,735 (public) and 3,226 (private), this quota does not include continuing education. Thus, 6,960 candidates will not be selected for public and private schools in the area.

However, Ms. Hang also encouraged candidates not to worry too much. She said that candidates who failed to pass the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools can continue to register for admission to vocational training centers and private high schools if the private high schools have not yet recruited enough students or want to increase the enrollment quota based on the school's existing facilities after July 15, 2024.
