From the end of April, when the first rains of the season appear, it is also the time when local farmers prepare conditions for planting crops. In order to minimize damage caused by natural disasters, right from the beginning of the season, the Department of Agriculture coordinates with local authorities to advise and guide farmers to proactively adjust the crop calendar and appropriate crop structure.
Information from the Provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment) said: In the 2025 crop season, the whole province plans to plant 221,480 hectares of various crops, an increase of more than 4,000 hectares compared to the 2024 crop season. Up to this point, local farmers have planted more than 38,564 hectares, reaching 17.4% of the plan.
Mr. Pnay (Ktu village, Glar commune, Dak Doa district) said: “My family has sown 3 sao of Dai Thom 8 rice because this is a hardy variety that is resistant to lodging during the rainy season and has been produced by local people for many years. To limit damage during the rainy season, this year, I planted the rice 1 week earlier. Currently, the rice is in the young seedling stage. The family is focusing on replanting evenly, weeding, and fertilizing so that the rice plants can grow and develop well.”
According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Anh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Doa district: To ensure that the 2025 crop production meets and exceeds the plan, immediately after the end of the Winter-Spring crop, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the district coordinates with communes and towns to guide people to urgently prepare the land, prepare seeds and materials, and wait for favorable weather to plant 8,670 hectares of various crops. Up to now, the whole district has planted more than 1,016 hectares of various crops, of which nearly 1,000 hectares of wet rice. In addition, farmers are oriented to use rice varieties that have been certified through many years of production and are suitable for local soil conditions such as: HT1, DT100, HN6, Dai Thom 8, OM4900... For fields that are prone to flooding, the Department guides people to sow earlier, use rice varieties that are strong and resistant to lodging.

In Kong Chro district, farmers are currently planting short-term crops and taking care of sugarcane. Mr. Tran Van Dau, Deputy Head of the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: The Department has instructed people to adjust the crop calendar and structure of short-term crops appropriately to avoid damage caused by the weather.
According to local assessments, flexibly adjusting the crop calendar and crop variety structure to suit weather conditions is one of the factors that determine crop productivity. Therefore, farmers need to focus on production according to the instructions and recommendations of professional agencies to reduce risks.
Speaking with reporters, Mr. Hoang Thi Tho - Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection - informed: Since the beginning of the season, the Department has advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment to issue an official dispatch to guide localities in producing crops in the context of climate change.
In which, organizing production in the direction of concentrated goods, shaping specialized crop growing areas suitable to the soil and climate of each locality, linking origin, growing area codes, linking production according to the value chain, ensuring from input to output of products.
In addition, prepare agricultural materials to ensure quality. In particular, develop specific crop calendars for each region, areas with irrigation works and areas dependent on rainwater sources so that people can flexibly adjust crop calendars and crop varieties to limit damage caused by natural disasters.
