Long An deploys scenario of growth in region I reaching 4% or more in 2025

On the morning of May 8, the People's Committee of Long An province held a conference to implement the growth scenario of region I (agriculture, forestry, and fishery) reaching 4% or more in 2025. Long An deploys scenario of growth in region I reaching 4% or more in 2025

Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam emphasized: In the context of climate change, increasing input material prices and fluctuating consumer markets, achieving a 4% growth rate for Region I is a challenging but necessary goal to ensure sustainable development and maintain the supporting role of the agricultural sector in the local economic structure.

At the conference, representatives of departments, branches and localities assessed the current growth situation of Region I in the area, and proposed many solutions that are close to the situation of each region and each field. Many specific recommendations were also made to remove obstacles, promote production, and ensure the growth target of 4% or more in 2025.

In addition, the representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment presented the growth scenario for Region I in 2025, which clearly stated specific targets for rice, vegetable, fruit, livestock and aquaculture output; at the same time analyzed a number of risk factors such as climate change, high input costs, unstable export markets;...

The Department of Industry and Trade recommends promoting agricultural product trade, building raw material area brands, and establishing sustainable links between farmers, businesses, and distributors through long-term consumption contracts. At the same time, the province needs to support agricultural production facilities to invest in upgrading processing and preservation technology to meet export requirements.

Representative of the Department of Agriculture and Environment presented the growth scenario for region I in 2025.

According to the scenario, growth in Region I in 2025 will reach 4% or more (of which: Agriculture 3.52%, aquaculture 10.4%, forestry 1.4%), contributing to the successful implementation of the overall growth target of the whole province in 2025 (8.7%); creating a solid foundation to achieve double-digit growth in the period 2026 - 2030.

To achieve these goals, Long An will focus on promoting the development of high-tech agriculture in the field of cultivation, converting the crop structure reasonably and effectively towards increasing added value and sustainable development, in accordance with market advantages and needs; building concentrated production areas, exploiting the potential and advantages of the province.

The province strives to achieve rice output of more than 3.266 million tons by 2025, of which high-quality rice accounts for more than 80% of total output. Output of other crops such as dragon fruit will reach more than 210,000 tons, lemon more than 207,200 tons, durian 3,500 tons, jackfruit 49,950 tons, pineapple 30,510 tons, coconut 42,609 tons, vegetables of all kinds 229,246 tons, etc.

Promote the development of concentrated livestock farming in the direction of high-tech industrial and semi-industrial applications associated with concentrated animal processing and slaughter. Strive for 2025 the output of fresh meat for slaughter is 94,197 tons (including fresh meat of buffalo, cow, goat 6,541 tons, pork 22,000 tons, poultry 65,656 tons); milk output is 35,000 tons; egg output is 838 million eggs, bird's nest output is 8 tons/year.

Promote the application of science and technology in aquaculture. Strive to achieve a total aquatic product output of 167,300 tons by 2025, including: 6,600 tons of exploited aquatic products (3,100 tons of marine exploitation, 3,500 tons of inland exploitation); 160,700 tons of farmed aquatic products (19,800 tons of brackish water shrimp, 5,900 tons of freshwater shrimp, 126,000 tons of pangasius, 9,000 tons of other freshwater fish); production of aquatic breeds of 100 million.

Protect forest areas and promote afforestation. Strive to plant more than 1,335,000 scattered trees of all kinds and replant 500 hectares of forest after exploitation by 2025.

Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam requested that sectors and localities closely coordinate and concretize the plan into clear targets and tasks.

At the same time, it is necessary to closely monitor market and weather developments to adjust the scenario accordingly; strengthen trade promotion activities, expand the market for Long An agricultural products. Identify key tasks of each sector and field in charge to focus on directing and implementing synchronously and effectively the tasks and solutions in the Plan, contributing to achieving the growth task of Region I according to the general policy of the province in 2025. /.
