1. Growing up in a family with a tradition of treating illnesses with traditional medicine , physician Le Van Loi (born in 1959, residing in Tan Ninh commune, Tan Thanh district, Long An province) followed his father to learn folk remedies and tips for treating illnesses with medicinal plants.
In 2008, he was officially certified as a practicing physician and started opening a clinic at home. Without a signboard or advertising, his clinic opened to serve the poor, those in remote areas, who have difficulty accessing modern healthcare.
From morning to afternoon, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, his small house is crowded with patients. He performs acupuncture, massage, medicinal poultices, medicinal steam baths, etc. to treat common illnesses such as colds, aches and pains, digestive disorders , etc., completely free of charge.
He and his family cover the costs of medicine, medical examination and treatment by farming. Not only is he a dedicated doctor, Mr. Loi also actively participates in social work, helping the poor with meals, rice, and supporting travel expenses for patients in difficult circumstances.
He is currently the Chairman of the Tan Ninh Commune Oriental Medicine Association. In the first 3 months of 2025, the Association mobilized and contributed more than 114 million VND to many practical activities such as distributing rice to the poor , supporting new soldiers, installing solar lights at martyrs' monuments, building bridges and rural roads, supporting poor students, social protection, etc.
With the above efforts, in 2024, Mr. Loi was awarded the Medal for the Cause of Oriental Medicine by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association and a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee for his contributions to traffic construction and social work.
Ms. Luong Thi Lan (Kenh Bich Hamlet, Tan Ninh Commune, Tan Thanh District) helps apply medicine to patients at the clinic of physician Le Van Loi.
A "fate" in his career journey was with Ms. Luong Thi Lan (born in 1990, residing in Kenh Bich hamlet, Tan Ninh commune). Previously, Ms. Lan suffered from a chronic headache and had sought treatment in many places without success. By chance, she met Mr. Loi, and he treated, cared for, and supported her for many years. Realizing that she had a knack for the profession, Mr. Loi supported her to study Oriental medicine.
Now, Ms. Lan has a certificate of Traditional Medicine and participates in examining and treating patients at the medical station as well as assisting at Mr. Loi's facility. In addition to traditional medicine, she also applies modern medical knowledge to take care of people's health. From a patient, Ms. Lan has now become a healer and continues the meaningful journey of her teacher.
Ms. Lan confided: “At that time, I had headaches for many years, and my family's finances were tight. Luckily, an acquaintance introduced me to Mr. Loi for free treatment. I am extremely grateful to him! From then on, I felt that I had a vocation for the profession, and wanted to learn to continue his path, helping people in the same situation as I was in the past.”
2. For many years, Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc (Tan Trach commune, Can Duoc district) has always actively participated in charity work, especially sharing drops of blood , helping unfortunate lives. Starting from 2007 until now, Ms. Ngoc has donated blood more than 40 times.
“Having witnessed many unfortunate lives, I think I am lucky to have blood type AB that can be transfused to many people. Therefore, I want to contribute a small part to help those in difficult circumstances. Twice a year, I regularly go to blood donation points in and outside the province to do this work,” Ms. Ngoc shared.
Up to now, Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc (Tan Trach commune, Can Duoc district) has donated blood more than 40 times.
During the difficult days of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ms. Ngoc did not hesitate to donate 240 million VND, coordinating with the Farmers' Association of Can Duoc district to support people. Thanks to that, trucks full of vegetables, tubers, and fruits of love have come to people in Chau Thanh, Duc Hoa, Moc Hoa, Thanh Hoa districts and Kien Tuong town,... bringing with them sharing and great encouragement.
Her perseverance and sense of responsibility helped her become an active propagandist. From her office to branches and associations, she enthusiastically encouraged everyone to participate. She also proactively advised the Commune People's Committee to support money for gas and gifts to encourage blood donors.
For the past 2 years, Ms. Ngoc has been the Head of the Commune Loan Group. In order for capital to be given to the right people - the right job, she always learns about each household's situation, then advises on raising cows, carpentry, farming, etc. according to suitable conditions. Thanks to that, many families have had the opportunity to develop their economy and limit the situation of borrowing capital with high interest rates, contributing to stabilizing the lives of people in the commune.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, there are still people who silently contribute to the community every day with all their heart and passion, spreading the good things in life./.
