Long An (Vietnam) - Liaoning (China) promote economic connectivity and people-to-people exchange

The delegation included the Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of departments and branches, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and representatives of Long An enterprises seeking cooperation opportunities with the Chinese side.

On the afternoon of May 12, the delegation worked with the leaders of Liaoning province and attended the signing ceremony of the friendship cooperation between the two provinces. Receiving the delegation were Mr. Jin Guowei, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Minister of Propaganda of Liaoning province, and leaders of local foreign affairs agencies.

According to Long An newspaper, at the meeting, Mr. Can Quoc Ve introduced the industrial potential, especially the steel, cement and oil industries of Liaoning. He expressed interest in Long An's agricultural products to serve consumption in Liaoning and the Northeast region of China as well as for export.

Mr. Mai Van Nhieu said that Long An is the gateway to the Mekong Delta, playing a connecting role between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of the Southwest. Long An's sustainable development orientation is based on three pillars: high-tech industry; urban, logistics; high-tech agriculture. Long An province wishes to exchange experiences and cooperate with Liaoning province; at the same time, promote the development of import, export, investment in areas such as industry, training of high-quality human resources, modern urban management and cultural - tourism exchange. This is also an important occasion to enhance people-to-people exchange and promote substantive cooperation between Long An and Liaoning provinces, thereby contributing to deepening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China.

Within the framework of the meeting, the leaders of the two provinces witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on enhancing friendly exchanges and cooperation between the Liaoning Provincial People's Friendship Association and the Long An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, deepening the people-to-people diplomatic relations between the two provinces established in 2015.

On May 13, the Long An Provincial delegation participated in the launching ceremony of the "Long An Province (Vietnam) - Liaoning Province (China) Friendship Week" with the theme "Sharing friendship, developing together". The program was organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Liaoning Provincial People's Government and the Liaoning Provincial People's Foreign Friendship Association in coordination with the Long An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations. The friendship week took place in Shenyang City and Dalian City, including activities such as signing cooperation agreements, cultural and tourism exchanges, business connections, experiencing intangible cultural heritages and promoting economic and trade cooperation.

Currently, Long An attracts about 1,540 FDI projects with a total registered capital of over 14.4 billion USD. Of which, Chinese investors have 704 projects with a total registered capital of over 3.1 billion USD - ranking first in the number of projects and second in total investment capital among 40 countries and territories investing in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Liu Kebin, Deputy Mayor of Shenyang City, highly appreciated the cooperative spirit and strategic vision of Long An; emphasizing the potential for cooperation in industry, smart cities and heritage conservation.

Mr. Mai Van Nhieu expressed his impression of the harmonious development between modern industry and cultural preservation of Shenyang. He wished to strengthen specific cooperation between Long An with Shenyang and Liaoning in areas of strength.

A highlight of the trip is the Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference between Long An and Liaoning Provinces, scheduled to be held on May 15 in Dalian City. The conference aims to introduce Long An’s dynamic investment environment to Chinese enterprises, while promoting cooperation in key areas such as agricultural products, auto parts, textiles, eco-tourism and culture.
