Beware of scam traps during high school graduation exam season

Dak Lak Provincial Police have just warned people to be vigilant against fraudsters appropriating property during the high school graduation exam for the 2024-2025 school year.

According to Dak Lak Provincial Police, at this time, taking advantage of students' anxiety and stress and parents' expectations, scammers have used many sophisticated tricks on cyberspace to collect people's personal information for the purpose of fraud and property appropriation.

Fraudsters are increasingly sophisticated and professional, they build detailed scenarios, use voice and image impersonation technology, create websites, branded messages (brandname) identical to those of authorities and schools to lure victims. The goal is not only to steal money but also to illegally collect sensitive personal data, posing many complex risks to security and order in the province.

Through monitoring the situation on cyberspace, the police force has compiled a number of common scams that subjects often use during exam season such as: Selling "real exam questions", "100% accurate answers"; opening "ghost" online exam preparation courses, fraudulently "raising scores", "buying places" to enter universities; impersonating education officials, school staff to "support" with application and review...

Faced with increasingly sophisticated cybercrime tactics, Dak Lak Provincial Police advise parents and students to be vigilant; keep personal information confidential; do not access strange links... At the same time, when detecting or suspecting signs of fraud, or unfortunately becoming a victim, calmly collect all evidence (text messages, phone numbers, bank account information of the subject, transaction history...) and immediately report to the nearest police agency for timely support.
