MTA was the victim of a traffic accident in Nam Dinh (run over by a homemade three-wheeled vehicle) and was the patient in the incident where the hospital had to pay full hospital fees to receive emergency treatment at Nam Dinh General Hospital on the afternoon of May 3, causing public outrage.

According to Dr. Cao Viet Tung, Deputy Director of the National Children's Hospital, after being transferred from Nam Dinh Provincial General Hospital, doctors at the National Children's Hospital performed a 3-hour surgery for the MTA patient.

After surgery, the patient had to be on a ventilator for about a day, closely monitored and had paraclinical tests evaluated at the Department of Surgical Intensive Care, then transferred to the General Surgery Center.

During the treatment at the National Children's Hospital, the MTA patient was closely monitored and actively treated. After the CT scan results and overall health assessment were stable, the hospital discharged the patient.
