Through training and communication cooperation, Long Chau and STADA have applied international medical knowledge to practice in Vietnam, contributing to pushing back this health problem. This is a step marking an important milestone in the strategic, comprehensive and sustainable cooperation between the Long Chau pharmacy system and vaccination center and STADA Pymepharco (part of the leading German pharmaceutical group STADA).
According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), about 16% of adults aged 18 and over worldwide will be obese by 2022. The rate of obesity worldwide has doubled from 1990 to 2022.
In Vietnam, about 25% of adults are currently overweight or obese. Notably, this rate in school-age children aged 5-19 doubled in 2020 compared to 2010 (from 8.5% to 19%), with urban areas accounting for 26.8%. According to the medical community, overweight and obesity are the cause of many dangerous diseases, increasing the risk of non-communicable diseases and earlier onset, such as musculoskeletal complications, neurological disorders, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer... This disease not only negatively affects personal health, but also creates a social burden through increased costs and reduced labor productivity.
Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco conduct intensive medical training for medical staff to improve clinical pharmacy practice and consulting capacity
Within the framework of the event, Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco organized a program to measure and evaluate BMI, blood pressure, electrocardiogram, and personalized consultation. Thereby, the two units joined forces to convey medical knowledge about "Safe weight loss starts with correct understanding", to raise public awareness about the risk of overweight, obesity and scientific and safe weight loss methods.
At the same time, through a widespread network, "close to the people - close to the people", the Long Chau pharmacy system and vaccination center, the parties have deployed a series of community health care activities. Here, people are analyzed and given personalized advice on BMI index by medical experts, helping them better understand their current body condition, promptly recognize the risk of overweight and obesity. In addition, the medical team also gives advice on scientific and safe weight loss, emphasizing the need to understand correctly, follow the doctor's advice and actively build a healthy lifestyle.

At the same time, Long Chau and STADA Pymepharco launched an intensive medical training course for the medical team to improve their consulting and clinical pharmacy practice capacity. Accordingly, the two sides discussed and updated knowledge and clinical evidence on pathology, modern weight management, and overweight and obesity prevention. Thereby, Long Chau team continues to promote the role of "extended arm", an important link of the health sector in bringing standard medical knowledge closer to the people on the journey of proper weight management, understanding correctly - understanding enough - treating correctly - safely and scientifically. On this basis, STADA Pymepharco and STADA Group affirm to stand side by side with Long Chau, accompanying the standardization of consulting and improving the quality of health care for Vietnamese people.
