Floods on Dinh Ninh Hoa River may reach historic levels

According to the news of Khanh Hoa Province Hydrometeorological Station, the flood on Dinh Ninh Hoa River is rising and is likely to reach historical flood levels.

Specifically, the water level on Dinh Ninh Hoa River at 1:00 p.m. on November 19 at the following stations: At Duc My station, it was 17.94m, 0.44m above alarm level 3; at Ninh Hoa hydrological station, it was 6.29m, 0.59m above alarm level 3.

Flood on Dinh Ninh Hoa River exceeded alert level 3 and continued to increase.

At 12:00 on November 19, Da Ban reservoir discharged 160m ³ /s; Suoi Trau reservoir discharged 192.83m ³ /s; EaKrongRou reservoir discharged 100m ³ /s. In case the reservoirs continue to maintain the discharge volume combined with the forecast rainfall in the Dinh Ninh Hoa river basin, it is likely to reach from 100 to 200m, in some places more than 250mm/24 hours. In the next 24 hours, the flood on Dinh Ninh Hoa river continues to rise and the flood peak is likely to reach above alert level 3 by 0.6 to 1m. If the flood discharge volume of the reservoirs increases, the flood peak on Dinh Ninh Hoa river at Ninh Hoa station may be equivalent to the historical flood peak in 1986 (6.58m).

Ninh Hoa Ward People's Committee has set up checkpoints in vulnerable areas of deep flooding.

Warning of areas that may be flooded in the following wards and communes: Ninh Hoa, Nam Ninh Hoa, Bac Ninh Hoa, Dong Ninh Hoa, Tan Dinh, Hoa Tri, Hoa Thang...; the area is likely to continue to spread. The maximum flood level is from 1.5 to 2.5m; in low-lying areas, the flood may be deeper. Authorities warn of the risk of flash floods and landslides that may occur in mountainous areas; rain and floods affecting the safety of reservoirs; flooding in downstream areas, riverside areas, and urban areas in the downstream area of ​​Dinh Ninh Hoa River. People need to pay attention to safety when traveling through spillways.
