According to a quick report from the Commune People’s Committee on the afternoon of November 19, the entire commune recorded dozens of landslides, many road sections were covered with rocks and trees. Some locations are at risk of further landslides as high water continues to pour in.
In Song Cho village, landslides on the road at the Ea Tar - Boi Loi intersection caused rocks and soil to cover half the road; at another point, soil and tree roots flooded into houses, damaging the roofs.
In Ea Sanh village, two landslides have occurred, with a 10-meter section of the slope and roadbed being severely eroded. The 185 slope area and village 4A also recorded the situation of rocks and soil falling onto the road surface, posing a danger to people and vehicles.

Not only landslides, rising water has deeply flooded many inter-village roads, especially at 11 overflow locations in the villages: Song Cho, Ea Sanh, Ea Krong, 4A, 1 and 6. Some locations were flooded for a long time, the strong water flow paralyzed traffic.
In the Ea Tar area (Song Cho village), floodwaters on the night of November 18 swept away a self-erected electric pole and a motorbike while trying to cross the underground tunnel, leading to local power outages and loss of phone signal.

Many households were severely affected, including the family of Mr. Trieu Duc Toan (Song Cho village) who has been submerged for the past 4 days due to rising floodwaters. The only road leading to the house was severely damaged by the flood and impassable.
His family also suffered great losses in production with 5 sao of oranges and 5 sao of small acacia trees washed away; 8 hectares of large acacia trees were affected, about 10% of the area was broken. “The water rose so quickly, we couldn’t react in time. We just hope the rain will stop so we can repair the road and restore production,” Toan shared.

Heavy rains also affected the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Component 2 Project through Krong A Commune. From the Song Cho Bridge to the Phuong Hoang Tunnel entrance, many landslides and prolonged flooding occurred. Some construction machinery and equipment were submerged, but the extent of the damage has not yet been determined.
On the Eastern Truong Son route, authorities have identified many locations at high risk of landslides. The Commune Civil Defense Command has deployed staff to be on duty, guide vehicles and handle incidents promptly when they arise.
At the same time, the Krong A Commune Police deployed many measures to ensure the safety of the people. The unit strictly implemented the "4 on-site" principle, increased propaganda and warnings in areas at risk of landslides and deep flooding; regularly checked households in vulnerable areas and maintained 24/7 duty to promptly respond.

The Commune Police have established 5 Working Groups, assigning specific tasks to each village and each area. The groups closely coordinate with local authorities in search and rescue; ensuring security, order and traffic safety at disaster-affected areas. The unit also prepares vehicles and equipment for rescue such as motorbikes, life jackets, rescue ropes and other specialized tools.

Initial damage recorded was 1 motorbike swept away, 1 house roof damaged and many areas of trees and crops in Tak Drung, Ea Krong, Song Cho and Ea Sanh villages were buried and flooded. Statistics work is still being carried out.
Mr. Tran Manh Quan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong A Commune, said that the locality has mobilized excavators and cars from residents and businesses to clear rocks and soil and open temporary roads. At the landslide site in Ea Sanh village, the highway construction unit has coordinated to fill the soil and reinforce it to prevent the landslide from spreading.

“Currently, many flooding and landslides have been initially controlled, but due to the continued rain, the risk of landslides is very high. The commune authorities have deployed forces to guard key locations and advised people to absolutely not go through the spillways when the water has not receded,” Mr. Quan emphasized.
