A 25-year-old man from China has been arrested by police for stealing several wallets containing money and credit cards to fund his trips around the world .

The young man named An, graduated from a top university in Shanghai, currently works in the human resources department at a large company in the city.

According to information recently released by Shanghai Television, in the past 3 years, An has made more than 120 domestic and international trips .

The police became suspicious of An because his monthly salary was only about 10,000 yuan (VND 36 million). This was not enough to cover the expenses of such lavish trips. The case was only discovered when a man surnamed Li went to the company where An worked for a job interview and reported to the police that his wallet had been lost.

Shortly after leaving the company, Mr. Li received a notice from the bank that his card had been used illegally to purchase an international flight ticket worth 23,500 yuan (85 million VND). Because during the interview, his backpack was left in the conference room and the only person in the room was the human resources officer in charge of the interview. The police quickly identified the main suspect as An.

According to the booking information, the beneficiary of the flight was An, a 25-year-old employee working at the same company. Mr. Ly said he asked the customer service department why the card was still on his person but the transaction was still made without a password.

The staff replied that foreign currency credit cards in foreign countries have quite loose regulations. In particular, many places do not require passwords.

The police then went to An's house to check. There, they also found other wallets belonging to two men named Chu and Truong.

Chu was An's colleague. Inside the wallet were 1,000 yuan (3.6 million VND) and some personal documents. At first, Chu did not report to the police because he thought he had accidentally lost the wallet and the incident was not serious.

An admitted to stealing Mr. Chu's wallet from the bank. Another victim, surnamed Zhang, confirmed that he lost his wallet at Dubai International Airport. The wallet contained 20,000 yuan (72 million VND) and a credit card.

"I left my wallet on the check-in counter and went to a nearby counter to arrange my luggage. Just 2 minutes later, when I returned, the wallet was gone. I couldn't believe it. Because I was in a hurry to catch my flight, I didn't report it to the police," Mr. Truong explained.

For his part, An confessed to the police that he loved traveling and experiencing new lands. He often shared his trips on social media.

After graduating, An still maintained his "go wherever you want" lifestyle, never missing a single vacation from weekends to holidays. Within 3 years, he took more than 120 flights, visiting 7 countries on 4 continents with a passport full of immigration stamps.

"I'm very good at making new friends even in strange places. We often talk happily in the evening. Those are all beautiful experiences in life," An said.

Before being arrested, An was planning to fly to Africa for tourism and get all the necessary vaccinations.
