In the pure white ao dai and the ancient Southern Vietnamese ao ba ba, the beauty queen recreates the image of Southern women - grandmothers, mothers, and sisters who silently contributed to the protection and construction of the homeland during the war years.
Inspired by the saying “Each outfit is a story, a period,” the photo series represents the young generation’s deep gratitude to Vietnamese women – a symbol of resilience, patience and patriotism during wartime.
In this photo series, Luong Thuy Linh wears a simple ao ba ba, an indispensable outfit for Southern women during wartime. Surpassing all fashion stereotypes, the ao ba ba has become a living witness to the spirit of resilience and perseverance. “In that ao ba ba are the figures of mothers carrying their children to escape bombs, of girls delivering letters, transporting ammunition, and hiding cadres in enemy-controlled areas…” Luong Thuy Linh shared.
The Ao Ba Ba of the South in the past was also the aspiration to liberate the South of millions of people, the call for independence resounding from the countryside to the city. Representing the modern young generation, Luong Thuy Linh always tries to demonstrate social responsibility through each community project and artistic activities. Therefore, choosing to recreate the image of a woman during wartime on this important occasion shows her deep love for the history and culture of the country.

The photo series is not only a tribute to the women who lived and contributed during the war, but also a connection between generations of Vietnamese women. The photo series also conveys a message about the image of Vietnamese women as “simple yet indomitable, gentle yet thorny.”
The appearance of Luong Thuy Linh in the Independence Palace, wearing a white ao dai and ao ba ba, is a fusion of the past and the present. The beauty queen not only expressed her gratitude, but also called on the youth to understand and be proud of the glorious history of the country.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the photo series is a touching reminder that we are living in peace today thanks to the many people who lived, fought and died in simple brown shirts like that.../.
