Man City into FA Cup final

Man City easily beat Nottingham.

This is the 14th time and the third time in a row that Man City have reached the final of the world's oldest competition, continuing their impressive run of form under manager Pep Guardiola. In the 21st century, apart from Man City, only Arsenal and Chelsea have played in three consecutive FA Cup finals.

Against an opponent who were playing in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley for only the second time in their history, City were unsurprisingly dominant. It took just two minutes for the Premier League champions to open the scoring. Mateo Kovacic showed great coordination as he drove straight into the centre of Forest before passing to Rico Lewis, who coolly slotted home from a corner to open the scoring.

Nottingham Forest, under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, struggled to find rhythm and composure. With just 23% possession, Forest failed to create any meaningful chances.

In the second half, Man City maintained their dominance. Just 6 minutes after the ball started rolling again, they doubled the gap. From Omar Marmoush's corner, Josko Gvardiol jumped high and headed the ball dangerously, giving goalkeeper Matz Sels no chance to block.

Leading 2-0, Guardiola's students proactively slowed down the tempo, played solidly and waited for counter-attack opportunities. Marmoush almost scored another goal with a dangerous long-range shot but was denied by Sels with an excellent diving save.

In an effort to salvage hope, Nottingham Forest fought back strongly in the final minutes. They had three dangerous chances in a row but the crossbar and post denied Morgan Gibbs-White and Taiwo Awoniyi's efforts respectively. A lack of luck and poor ability to take advantage of opportunities prevented Forest from creating a miraculous comeback.

Manchester City won convincingly. They will meet Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on May 17.
