Nam Dinh Green Steel is getting closer to winning the V-League championship this year |
Nam Dinh is too strong
The race for the V-League championship is taking place excitingly. Many people expect Thanh Hoa to be able to stop coach Vu Hong Viet and his team, thereby adding more spice to the number 1 football playground in Vietnam. However, that wish did not come true when Nam Dinh showed their superior strength against Thanh Hoa.
With the home field advantage, coach Vu Hong Viet directed his players to attack and quickly deal with the visitors. Within the first 6 minutes of the match, Thanh Hoa goalkeeper Y Eli Nie had to make two saves after crosses from the left and right wings of the home team.
In the 13th minute, Nam Dinh's Van Vi defeated Y Eli Nie in an aerial battle. He passed to Brenner to shoot right in front of the goal line, but the Brazilian foreign player missed the opportunity regrettably. However, just 1 minute later, Brenner made amends. After a series of smooth one-touch passes, the Brazilian foreign player assisted Ly Cong Hoang Anh to enter the penalty area. This player fired a shot to the near corner, successfully fooling goalkeeper Y Eli Nie, opening the score of the match.
In the following minutes, Nam Dinh played even more enthusiastically. They continuously applied high pressure, making it impossible for Thanh Hoa to hold the ball or coordinate. The only notable situation created by the Thanh team was in the 19th minute. In a rare counter-attack, Ribamar received a through ball from his teammate. He finished into the Nam Dinh net but it was disallowed for offside.
Immediately after this situation, Thanh Hoa suffered a counterattack. In the 21st minute, Brenner again made a pass to Ly Cong Hoang Anh to break Thanh Hoa's offside trap. This player made a delicate toe-poke, sending the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Y Eli Nie, doubling the gap for Nam Dinh.
In the second half, Thanh Hoa scored a goal to reduce the score to 1-2. However, Nam Dinh still won and got 3 full points to maintain a 5-point gap with the chasing team, Hanoi Club.
Nam Dinh's domestic team reaches the top of V-League
Coach Vu Hong Viet is helping Nam Dinh soar to the top of the V-League, and this season's championship is within reach of the Thien Truong Stadium team. There are many secrets to Nam Dinh's success, but certainly, the first credit belongs to the domestic players.
Coach Vu Hong Viet is gradually being recognized by fans in Thanh Nam for his leadership ability, something that was previously doubted. One of the greatest successes of Coach Vu Hong Viet is his great contribution in exploiting the potential of domestic players, helping them develop their abilities in a positive way. Of the total 39 goals that Nam Dinh has scored after round 22 this season, domestic players have contributed 26 goals (including 7 goals by naturalized striker Xuan Son and 1 goal by overseas Vietnamese player Kevin Pham Ba).
Ly Cong Hoang Anh is a typical example of the success of Nam Dinh's domestic players. Hoang Anh's 5 goals this season have all been turning points, including a double in the 2-1 victory over Thanh Hoa in round 22 and the opening goal in the 3-0 victory over Hanoi FC in round 21.
In the professional era, the clubs that have won the championship twice include: Song Lam Nghe An, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, SHB Da Nang, Dong Tam Long An. Only B.Binh Duong (4 times) and Hanoi FC (6 times) have won more championships than the number that Nam Dinh is aiming for.
Despite being a small defender, Van Vi has made a great contribution to the attack. He is not only solid on the left flank but also often penetrates the penalty area and launches dangerous shots. Up to this point, Nam Dinh's domestic defenders have contributed 6 goals, while foreign center back Lucas Alves has only scored 1 goal.
In the midfield, domestic midfielders also scored 6 goals, including Hoang Anh with 5 goals and To Van Vu contributing 1 goal. Notably, Nam Dinh's attack line is not too dependent on foreign players. Domestic strikers scored 6 goals, including Nguyen Van Toan (2 goals), Lam Ti Phong (1 goal) and Tran Van Dat (3 goals).
Defending the title is within the reach of coach Vu Hong Viet and his team. Under the leadership of the 1979-born coach, Nam Dinh is on its way to joining the group of clubs with the most achievements in the V-League with two championships.
