In cases of requesting re-issuance or exchange of health insurance cards, Social Insurance officers will directly guide participants to install the VssID application, VNeID application and instruct them to use the health insurance card image on the applications to go to the doctor or get medical treatment instead of the paper copy.
To ensure benefits and avoid interruptions in the medical examination and treatment process, people need to take the following steps: Install the VssID or VNeID application on their smartphones to be able to use the electronic health insurance card image instead of the paper card. Link health insurance information with the chip-embedded citizen identification card to ensure data synchronization.
Accordingly, Vietnam Social Security will only issue paper health insurance cards for those who cannot install VssID, VneID and do not have a citizen identification card with a chip.
This regulation is part of the digital transformation program of Vietnam Social Security to reduce administrative procedures, aiming to modernize processes and bring many practical benefits to health insurance participants.
To use the VNeID or VssID application instead of a paper health insurance card, people can integrate their health insurance card into these applications by following simple steps.
Specifically, people update the latest version of the VneID application, open the application and log in, select the Paper Wallet section, then select Integrate information. Next, select Create new request and enter the health insurance card number and card issuing unit information to complete the integration.
Regarding the VssID application, currently, most accounts have been authenticated with population data and updated citizen identification numbers. For accounts that have not been updated, users can follow these steps to update citizen identification numbers or personal identification codes for social insurance and health insurance participants in the VssID application.
To check the updated citizen identification number on the VssID application, people open the VssID application on their phone and log in to their account. If the account already displays the citizen identification number, there is no need to update.
If people still have the old ID card number and need to change information, follow these steps:
Step 1: Access the address: https://dichvucong.baohiemxahoi.gov.vn - Log in with your VssID account.
Step 2: When you have successfully logged in, look up and select Account Information to change your ID card/citizen identification number.
Step 3: In the information management section, you can easily edit your ID card/citizen identification number.
Step 4: Confirm at the Social Security agency. After completing the online information change, the user will receive a notification requesting to go to the nearest Social Security agency to confirm and complete the information change on the Social Security system.
In case people have difficulty installing, contact the local Social Security agency for support in installing the application if it is not possible or if there is no chip-embedded citizen ID card. Social Security officers are responsible for guiding participants to install and use the health insurance card image on the VssID, VNeID application; use the chip-embedded citizen ID card to go to the hospital for examination and treatment instead of the paper health insurance card.
