Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hoang Hoa District Le Xuan Thu, Head of the Steering Committee for collecting, compiling, supplementing and republishing the Hoang Hoa Gazetteer, chaired the workshop.
Attending the workshop were former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hoang Van Hoang; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, the Provincial Historical Science Association; leaders and former leaders of Hoang Hoa district, members of the Steering Committee, the Collection Committee, the Book's Editorial Committee, and many researchers and scientists.

In 1995, the Standing Committee of Hoang Hoa District Party Committee, 21st term, directed the compilation of “Hoang Hoa Cultural Geography” edited by Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao. The book was well received by many readers. Although not perfect, it recorded the information, documents, characters, places and events mentioned were quite accurate and familiar.
In 2000, the Standing Committee of Hoang Hoa District Party Committee, term XXII, directed the reprinting and upgrading of the layout and content of the book "Hoang Hoa Cultural Geography" for the first time. Associate Professor Ninh Viet Giao, with the support of many other comrades, continued to work hard to collect and research, creating a book that conducts deeper and broader research on historical - cultural relics, literature - art, customs, habits... of Hoang Hoa district, which was highly appreciated by scientists inside and outside the province.
Continuing to affirm the historical and cultural values of the Hoang Hoa people through historical stages, since 2023, the Standing Committee of the Hoang Hoa District Party Committee XXVII has directed and inherited the Hoang Hoa Cultural Geography, revised and supplemented it into the Hoang Hoa Geography with the criteria of being more extensive and in-depth, not only on culture but also covering many other fields more comprehensively about the land, people and the rich history and culture of the district.
The leaders of the Institute of Vietnamese History and Culture Research reported a summary of the results of receiving and editing the draft of the Hoang Hoa Geography book.
On May 6, 2025, Hoang Hoa District Party Committee coordinated with the Institute of Vietnamese History and Culture Research to organize the first workshop. After the workshop, the Editorial Board received, edited, and completed the second draft of Hoang Hoa Geography.
At the workshop, the representative of the Institute of Vietnamese History and Culture Studies briefly reported the results of receiving and editing the first draft and the completion of the second draft. Accordingly, the book manuscript has a large capacity (nearly 1,000 pages), covering many fields, structured into 4 parts with 16 chapters; in addition, there is an introduction, a preface, 32 appendix lists, 40 pages of illustrations. The main method used is interdisciplinary research, descriptive, objective, vivid, systematic representation of the current state of nature, society and people of Hoang Hoa district.
Most of the delegates attending the workshop assessed that the second draft of the Hoang Hoa Geographical Book has basically ensured quality, a more complete appearance, with many rich documents, showing a picture of the history, culture, and traditions of the land and people of Hoang Hoa, worthy of being a scientific work of the district in the field of geography.
However, some opinions said that due to urgent conditions, the large amount of adjustment and workload, the content of the draft Hoang Hoa Gazetteer still could not avoid errors. Many delegates frankly discussed and contributed additional opinions on the fields of natural geography, history, culture, people, migration, administrative boundary separation, housing, ancient churches... and many other issues that need to be absorbed, edited and added to the Hoang Hoa Gazetteer.

Concluding the workshop, Hoang Hoa District Party Secretary Le Xuan Thu emphasized: In the context that the whole country, the whole province as well as Hoang Hoa district are preparing a lot of work and are ready for the merger of communes and the dissolution of district-level administrative units, the compilation and publication of the Hoang Hoa Geographical Book has a special meaning, closing a historical period, marking the 80-year journey of establishment and development of the district. The book aims to synthesize the most comprehensive content about the district to serve as a long-term archival handbook, providing a comprehensive view of all areas in the district, for new communes in the future to inherit and develop.
Regarding the comments of delegates at the workshop, the Secretary of the District Party Committee requested the Editorial Board and the Collection Board to synthesize and absorb the maximum to supplement, complete, and unify the entire content, ensuring accuracy, scientificity, historicality, quality, shortening the implementation progress, striving to complete the appraisal, printing, and publishing of the Hoang Hoa Geography in June 2025.
