This is considered an important milestone in the digital transformation roadmap of the Tax sector, creating maximum convenience for taxpayers, improving the quality and efficiency of tax management.

Ms. Nguyen Vu Thanh Thao - Accountant of a travel company in Nha Trang said: “I am quite familiar with tax procedures, but in the past I was still hesitant every time it was time to finalize personal income tax due to the many procedures. This year, the Tax Department implemented automatic personal income tax refunds, I proactively downloaded the eTax Mobile application (electronic tax application) to do it. At first, I was not familiar with it and thought it was difficult, but in fact, everything was almost suggested by the system, I just needed to check the information and confirm. After only 1 week, I received the tax refund transferred to my bank account”.

Mr. Do Van Hoa - an employee of a real estate company said that normally, employees authorize the company to settle the settlement. However, because he has income from two different companies, he has to do it himself. He intended to give up on tax refunds, because he thought the procedures were cumbersome and confusing, and he had to go directly to the tax office to queue. However, when he heard that this year's personal income tax refund would be automatic, he went to the website and Fanpage of the Tax Department to watch videos instructing on personal income tax settlement, personal income tax refund procedures, and downloaded the eTax Mobile application to try it out. After submitting the settlement dossier, all notifications and decisions from the tax authority were updated on the eTax Mobile application, helping him look up the tax authority's file processing process. Within 6 days from the date of successfully submitting the tax refund request with all required documents, he received the personal income tax refund in his linked bank account.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nga - civil servant of the Personal Income Tax, Business Household Tax and Other Taxes Department, Tax Department of Region XIII, the application of automatic personal income tax refund has eliminated the steps of manually approving personal income tax refund dossiers, and taxpayers are automatically refunded by the system without having to contact tax officials. This not only helps taxpayers save time and effort when making tax refunds but also limits errors, ensures transparency and fairness in the process of reviewing dossiers because the system automatically synthesizes and checks data. This is considered one of the important automatic applications to accelerate the process of comprehensive and synchronous digital transformation in tax management to meet the goal of "Taking taxpayers as the center to serve" of the tax sector.
2,175 files automatically refunded
According to information from the Tax Department of Region XIII, from April 3 (the official date of implementing the automatic personal income tax refund application) to May 20, there were 3,951 applications for automatic personal income tax refund sent to the Head Office in Khanh Hoa , equal to 192% compared to the same period in 2024. Of which, 2,175 applications were confirmed to have been automatically refunded with a refund amount of more than 7.1 billion VND, equal to 273% compared to the same period in 2024.
To achieve the above results, as soon as the Tax Department deployed the Automatic Personal Income Tax Refund Process, the Tax Department of Region XIII thoroughly informed the units and civil servants to fully and seriously implement the content of the process, ensuring timely tax refund settlement for taxpayers; promoted propaganda and support work, encouraged taxpayers to register, install and use the eTax Mobile application, iCanhan and the function "Create suggested declaration 02/QTT-TNCN" to perform personal income tax finalization and refund.
In addition, the Tax Department of Region XIII has allocated resources to monitor and urge the progress of dossier processing, review, notify, and guide taxpayers to supplement information and resolve personal income tax refund dossiers that are not eligible for automatic tax refund; proactively coordinate to request the State Treasury in the area to allocate resources to process tax refunds for taxpayers; receive feedback from the State Treasury and summarize problems arising in the process of resolving personal income tax refunds from units to promptly resolve them.
In the coming time, with the orientation of continuing to improve the system, expand the scope of application and improve the quality of electronic tax services, the Tax sector will have solutions to bring more convenience to taxpayers in order to effectively implement the goal of "Taking taxpayers as the center of service".
