Also at this event, the Korean technology "giant" also brought a new tablet model and two new smartwatch models.
The star of the show was the new Flip 5 foldable phone, which features a much thinner clamshell design than its predecessor, and a three-point hinge that gives the device virtually no gap when closed.
Samsung equipped the Flip 5 with water and dust resistance, but the most valuable upgrade is the larger external screen. The Korean company designed a “sliding window” on the 1.9-inch screen that allows users to expand the usable area to 3.4 inches for easy access to utilities such as calendar, clock and selfie camera.
Customers can now pre-order the Galaxy Flip 5 for $999.99.
Meanwhile, the Fold 5 is considered to have less improvements. The latest Galaxy Fold model has a 6.2-inch screen that can be opened to reveal a 7.6-inch main screen, equivalent to the size of a tablet. The new screen on the Fold 5 is equipped with a brightness of 1750 nits, much higher than the Fold 4.
The Fold 5 is 2.4mm thinner than its predecessor, comes with an under-display camera, and is compatible with the company's S Pen stylus. Samsung lists the Galaxy Fold 5 starting at $1,799.99.
For the tablet category, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab S9 in three versions: Tab S9 (11 inches), Tab S9+ (12.4 inches) and Tab S9 Ultra (14.6 inches) with S Pen in the box. The lowest price starts from $799.9 for the Tab S9 version.
Also appearing in Samsung's new product line are the Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. Both are made of aluminum, equipped with larger displays, thin bezels, faster processors and better battery life than previous versions.
The Watch 6 starts at $299.99 for the 40mm version and $329.99 for the 44mm watch face.
The Watch 6 Classic is priced from $399.99 and $429.99 for the 43mm and 47mm versions.
