Russian media reported that a Mi-8 military helicopter and a Su-34 fighter bomber crashed on the same day in Bryansk province bordering Ukraine.
"The Mi-8 helicopter crashed in the city of Klintsy due to an engine fire," TASS quoted an official from the emergency services of Bryansk province, western Russia, as saying on May 13. The incident occurred about 40 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
At least two people on board the helicopter were killed, according to a Bryansk regional government source. Russian officials have not yet released information on which service the Mi-8 belonged to.
Video shared by Russian military blogger Voyenniy Osvedomitel shows the helicopter bursting into flames in the air, apparently after being hit by an anti-aircraft missile.
A few hours later, Russian media continued to announce information about a Su-34 fighter bomber crashing in Bryansk province. Russian officials confirmed the crash site was near the Ukrainian border, but could not clarify the pilot's condition.
Ukrainian officials have not commented on this development.

Russia has recently accused Ukraine of being behind many raids deep into Russian-controlled areas on the Ukrainian battlefield or attacking targets inside Russian territory.
On May 1, Aleksandr Bogomaz, the head of Bryansk province bordering northeastern Ukraine, reported that a train had been bombed, caught fire, and derailed in the area. Two days later, the Russian news site Baza reported a drone attack on an air base in the province.
On May 3, Russian media reported that another oil depot in the village of Volna, in the southern Krasnodar region, was attacked by UAVs. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said the oil depot was on fire "at the most serious level". Ukraine has not accepted responsibility for these attacks.
