The 26-year-old striker broke the deadlock in France's win over Germany in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off on the evening of June 8.
Mbappe brilliantly received a long pass from Real Madrid teammate Aurelien Tchouameni in the penalty area, confidently dribbled past centre-back Joshua Kimmich and then finished into the far post to open the scoring for the French team in the 45th minute.

In the second half, it was also Mbappe who assisted Michael Olise in the 84th minute to help France beat Germany 2-0 and win 3rd place in the Nations League.
Notably, Mbappe's first-half opener marked his 50th goal for Les Bleus and he became the third French player (after Oliver Giroud and Thierry Henry) to score 50 or more goals for his national team.
Not only that, Mbappe also broke the record for the fastest 50 goals for the French national team held by Thierry Henry, since 2009. The former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player, who debuted for the French national team at the age of 18 in 2017, reached this milestone after only 90 appearances for the team.
Mbappe is looking to overtake Henry and Giroud in the all-time top scoring charts for France (Giroud currently leads with 57 goals in 137 appearances, while Henry scored 51 in 123 matches between 1997 and 2010).
Mbappe has enjoyed an impressive 2024-25 campaign since moving to the Bernabeu on a free transfer after deciding not to renew his contract with PSG.

He scored 43 goals in 56 games in all competitions for Real Madrid, including 31 goals in La Liga, helping him win the first European Golden Shoe of his career and is also the only player in world football to win the European Golden Shoe, the World Cup Golden Shoe and the Champions League Golden Shoe.
He is also the only footballer to win the Pichichi award (top scorer in La Liga) and the Gerd Muller award (top scorer in a season). He also broke Ivan Zamorano's 33-year-old record of scoring the most goals for Real Madrid in his first season.
