Ensuring user privacy and safety has always been a top priority for Meta. Since 2016, Meta has invested more than $30 billion in people and technology to protect the safety and security of its platform and currently has an estimated 40,000 employees working on this department. In 2024 alone, Meta removed more than 15,000 links containing scam content in Vietnam and recently removed an additional 10 million accounts impersonating major content producers globally. Also in 2024, Meta detected and disabled more than seven million accounts linked to scam hubs in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines.
“As part of our global efforts to reduce online fraud and misinformation, we continue to launch the ‘Scam Alert’ campaign in Vietnam, one of Meta’s key markets in Asia, on the occasion of Vietnam Cyber Security Day. We believe that equipping users with knowledge, awareness and digital skills is a key factor in helping them proactively protect themselves from increasingly sophisticated forms of fraud. Through creative content and interactive games, this year’s campaign will help users form the habit of checking and thinking carefully when communicating and sharing information online. This is also how we realize Meta’s long-term commitment to building a safe, trustworthy and responsible digital environment in Vietnam,” said Mr. Khoi Le, Meta Country Director in Vietnam.
