Metro No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City stops running due to heavy rain and thunderstorms

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR), at 5:25 p.m., heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning caused the electrical safety protection system of the entire metro line 1 to be activated.

Therefore, MAUR and Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) decided to temporarily suspend the train schedule and bring the trains back to the stations to ensure passenger safety. At the same time, the unit conducted an inspection of the entire system of the route.

Station staff also reassured and guided passengers to move safely.

“In the initial stages of operation, the decision to stop and review the entire system according to the procedure to ensure absolute safety is extremely necessary, although it affects and causes delays for passengers.

After checking and finding no abnormalities, the relevant units decided to allow the train to operate again" - MAUR emphasized in the announcement.

Previously, at 6:30 p.m. yesterday (December 26), a metro train No. 1 stopped at Ba Son station. Here, during the inspection, the HURC1 dispatching department noticed that some details in the signal were not in accordance with the operating procedures and technical instructions. After about 10 minutes, the relevant units allowed the train to operate again.

Metro Line 1 officially opened on December 22, after 12 years of construction. People will be able to experience it for free during the first month of operation.

According to HURC1 statistics, in 5 days (from December 22-26), the unit operated 997 electric trains, serving 467,545 passengers.
