THACO AUTO and MINI officially introduced the all-new MINI 3-Door and MINI Countryman in Vietnam. These are considered the two models that kick off MINI's electric vehicle range, opening the trend of vehicles using environmentally friendly fuel sources. Above all, this marks a new step in MINI's development, bringing modern, fashionable, quality products without losing its inherent identity.
The development story of MINI has always been a source of inspiration for anyone who loves cars around the world . In 1956, the oil crisis broke out in Europe. Fuel prices skyrocketed, forcing car manufacturers to think about a smaller, more economical and practical car model. At that time, Sir Alec Issigonis - a British engineer of Greek origin, famous for being difficult but genius was assigned the task of creating "a small car for the whole of England". And after a tense discussion, he immediately sketched a rough drawing on a white paper with the idea of a car with: four wheels pushed close to the corners, a transverse engine, maximum interior space, and minimal external dimensions. The idea was so simple that everyone thought it was "crazy". But it was that "crazy" that changed the history of cars. From that rough sketch, one of the most influential car models of the 20th century was born. Mini cars are compact yet smart, economical yet stylish, and for the first time put the concept of “pure driving pleasure” into a manifesto for this small car.
In 1959, the first Mini hatch appeared and the rest is history. More than half a century has passed, a new era has come, the era of pure electric cars. In 2008, the MINI E was launched at the Los Angeles Auto Show, marking the British brand's pioneering electric car product. MINI has shown itself to be a "timely" and visionary when the valuable data of the MINI E became the foundation for the birth of the MINI Electric/Cooper SE, a commercial electric car that brings the legendary "go-kart feeling" into the zero-emission era. Now, the world changes faster and MINI is also bolder. The brand announced that it will continue to strongly develop new EV models such as the Cooper Electric, Countryman Electric and Aceman Electric on a dedicated electric platform. And the journey to demonstrate that ambition has officially "set foot" in Vietnam with two models: the MINI 3-Door and the all-new pure electric MINI Countryman. It's the strongest commitment yet to the British car brand's promise: to keep the playful, individual and innovative spirit that has made it iconic since 1959, but carry it into a cleaner and more exciting future.
MINI 3-Door All-Electric: From a legend to a new era
The all-electric MINI 3-Door has a minimalist design with few unnecessary details, in line with MINI's "less is more" spirit. This modern design language brings a very unique beauty to the brand's iconic car, harmoniously combining traditional values and innovations, focusing on the driver's experience.
The new MINI 3-Door Pure Electric has dimensions (length x width x height) of 3,858 x 1,756 x 1,460 mm respectively. The details on the body are streamlined with a distinct three-part structure. In addition, the Scuttle panel is removed, creating a seamless look for the body. The window area has a contrasting color with the roof, creating a recognizable mark for the car. The impressive hood with two raised ribs running along, placed close to the headlight cluster. The front bumper is also streamlined, standing out with a new octagonal closed radiator grille. The most noticeable highlight on the MINI 3-Door Pure Electric is the yellow S symbol on the front bumper of the car.
The new MINI 3-Door electric is equipped with a traditional round headlight system with a significantly thinner light border compared to the petrol version of the MINI 3-Door. The LED daytime running light system (Daylight) is a worthy upgrade of the car. Special lighting graphics with "Welcome" and "Goodbye" effects make the car come alive, increasing interaction and experience for the driver.
The rear of the new MINI 3-Door All-Electric has also been upgraded, making the car slimmer. The embossed MINI logo is placed in the center of the rear of the car, the rear bumper is covered with black plastic, integrated with brake lights and fog lights at the rear of the car. The taillight design is a highlight with stylized Union Jack graphics in a very unique triangular frame. The antenna cluster on the MINI 3-Door All-Electric is also designed in the form of a shark fin, which is also considered an identifying feature for MINI electric cars. The car uses 18-inch Night Flash Spoke 2-tone rims. ".

The pure electric MINI Countryman has dimensions (length x width x height) of 4,445 x 1,843 x 1,635 mm, respectively, which is the largest size for the famous MINI SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle). The front bumper is newly designed, with a large octagonal closed grille cluster with two angular air vents below. The notable highlight of the pure electric MINI Countryman is the trapezoidal LED headlights with prominent LED borders and eye-catching main lights. To ensure the minimalism of the exterior, the door handles are neatly designed in a hidden form in the body. The C-pillar connects seamlessly and uniformly to the hood with a glossy Piano black finish, while the roof rack is also designed more delicately. The versatility and sturdiness of the MINI Countryman is also demonstrated by the 202 mm ground clearance and sturdy chassis system. This feature effectively supports the vehicle to operate safely and comfortably on rough terrain.
The rear bumper stands out with the MINI logo and the Countryman name, the bumper's cover emphasizes the horizontality, making the rear of the car look more impressive. In particular, the completely new taillight design, the long and slim trapezoidal LED shape and the rounded corners of the lights hug the rear of the car, creating a seamless design for the rear bumper of the car. The yellow S logo still appears on the new pure electric MINI Countryman. The car uses 20-inch Windmill Spoke 2-tone wheels.
Interior space: The beauty of minimalism
The interior design of the MINI 3-Door and the all-electric MINI Countryman has many similarities, such as the new MINI Toggle Bar, which integrates five function switches including: parking brake, gear lever, start/stop, driving mode switch, volume control, which are separately designed and reasonably arranged. Both cars are equipped with wireless charging for smartphones, located in the area below the Toggle Bar. The center console is covered with luxurious two-tone polyester knitted fabric.
Both vehicles are equipped with a panoramic sunroof, providing a comfortable and airy feeling to the interior. With the rear seats folded in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage compartment of the MINI 3-Door electric can expand from 210 - 800 liters; while the MINI Countryman electric can expand from 440 - 1,450 liters.
The MINI Interaction Unit features a 9.5'' edge-to-edge OLED touchscreen. Information such as speed and fuel consumption will be displayed at the top of the main screen as smart widgets arranged horizontally. Below are navigation functions, phone notifications, audio controls... to help the driver easily operate. In addition, the front HUD screen provides intuitive movement parameters and data information, providing maximum support to the driver.
Both models are equipped with a newly designed sports steering wheel with integrated multi-function. The seats are covered with high-quality Vescin leather, in which the front seats are upgraded to sports seats, similar to the famous MINI John Cooper Works model.
Immersive digital experiences
The new MINI 3-Door and MINI Countryman are equipped with the MINI Operating System 9, which connects to smartphones and is easily controlled via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The MINI Connected intelligent connectivity system helps drivers easily control and recognize the vehicle's status via their phone. Features from the Connected+ Unlimited technology package are also equipped as standard. The MINI Digital Key function from the MINI app allows easy locking and unlocking of the vehicle using the phone, bringing convenience to users. 
Powerful electric motor, keeping the "Go-kart" spirit intact
The new MINI 3-Door and MINI Countryman are both equipped with MINI's most advanced electric powertrain. The new MINI 3-Door is equipped with a front-wheel drive (FWD) engine with a Lithium-ion battery pack designed to be located under the floor. The MINI SE's electric powertrain delivers a maximum output of 160 kW (218 PS) and a torque of up to 330 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 - 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h. The power adapter allows the MINI 3-Door to be fully charged with alternating current (AC - 11 kW) in 5.25 hours and from 10 - 80% with direct current (DC - 95 kW) in 30 minutes.
The new MINI Countryman is equipped with a MINI electric motor with All4 all-wheel drive, which significantly improves traction, safety and vehicle stability during operation. The electric motor on the Countryman has a maximum output of 230 kW (313 PS) and a maximum torque of 494 Nm. The car can accelerate from 0 - 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds and reach a maximum speed of up to 180 km/h. The new MINI Countryman can be fully charged with alternating current (AC - 11 kW) in 6.5 hours and from 10 - 80% with direct current (DC - 130 kW) in 29 minutes.
The suspension and dampers on the all-electric MINI models are precisely tuned, combined with powerful engines, to create the typical MINI go-kart driving experience. Precise braking and a low center of gravity make the car agile, especially in urban driving. In addition, the new all-electric MINI 3-Door and MINI Countryman are also equipped with the advanced driving assistance system (Driving Assistant Plus) with outstanding features such as Active Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assistant.
With the introduction of the new MINI 3-Door and MINI Countryman electric models, MINI has completed its product line-up in Vietnam with all key models from traditional models such as MINI 3-Door, MINI 5-Door, MINI Clubman, MINI Countryman to the high-performance John Cooper Works and now the MINI electric model.
Every MINI model represents an unmistakable personality. From its glorious history to its groundbreaking present, MINI has become a British cultural icon, associated with music, fashion, cinema and youthful lifestyle for decades.
