In farming, fertilizers are an important ingredient used in large quantities each year, contributing significantly to increasing productivity, quality of agricultural products and enhancing the economic value of agriculture. However, the abuse of chemical fertilizers in crop care along with plant protection chemicals (chemicals to kill pests and diseases) is causing farmers and the agricultural sector to face the risks of unsafe agricultural products, pollution of the soil and water environment - means of production, reducing the competitiveness of agricultural products in the market. Therefore, the use of organic fertilizers is increasingly being chosen by producers to move towards green, efficient and sustainable agricultural production.

In Truc Ninh district, Truc Ninh Agricultural Technical Materials Joint Stock Company is a pioneer in developing organic rice production. One of the Company's priorities is to cooperate with Dang Quang Nano Industry Joint Stock Company to introduce organic fertilizers into rice production. Mr. Le Van Thanh, Director of the Company, said: From the spring crop of 2024, with the permission and guidance of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), we have used PAN fertilizer to care for rice with a trial area of 10.5 hectares planted with VNR20 rice varieties, Co Tien sticky rice and Ngoc Lam sticky rice in Liem Hai commune (Truc Ninh). PAN is a new generation organic foliar fertilizer produced from organic sources such as fish protein, ash, rice husks... In particular, PAN organic foliar fertilizer has added medium elements of calcium and silicon extracted by nanotechnology, containing high organic content (12%), trace elements (Boron: 3,000ppm) and added macronutrients NPK which are essential ingredients to help increase the ability to absorb nutrients, increase resistance, and resistance to pests and diseases, thereby helping plants grow and develop well. Results from the last spring crop showed that rice varieties using this fertilizer all had high germination rates, good germination vitality, and good uniformity. The root system developed strongly, the stem was upright, the plant was strong, the leaves were hard, there were few ineffective shoots, and the ability to resist lodging was quite good, so the level of pest and disease infection was lighter than in the control field. The rice plant grows well, the leaves are green, strong, thick and hard, increasing the ability to photosynthesize, stimulating root development, increasing the rate of tillering, increasing the number of effective tillers and the ability to accumulate dry matter, contributing to increasing rice yield... Rice yield is 23-33kg/sao higher than the control field, equivalent to 638-915kg/ha. Using PAN organic foliar fertilizer helps reduce 30% of inorganic fertilizers of all kinds compared to the previous process. The profit compared to the control field is 246-346 thousand VND/sao, equivalent to 6.8-9.6 million VND/ha... Not only bringing higher economic efficiency, the use of organic fertilizers also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to limiting environmental pollution.
Not only businesses, many farming households have also boldly applied the organic production model to bring high economic efficiency and sustainability. The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Khoa, a farmer in Lien Bao commune (Vu Ban) has boldly rented and accumulated agricultural land from households in the area, invested in buying land preparation machines, transplanters, and harvesters to produce rice in an organic direction with a scale of 3.5 hectares. Ms. Khoa said: "Through accessing documents on organic agricultural development and being guided and supported by the functional sector, I see many benefits, the market demand for organic agricultural products is increasing, creating stable output, suitable for the requirements of large-scale commodity production". After completing the renovation stage, removing chemical residues in the soil, she planted rice with Dai Thom and BT7 varieties resistant to silver leaf according to the organic production process. She used composted manure combined with microbial organic fertilizer to take care of the rice; Using biological products to prevent pests and diseases... Thanks to strictly implementing the organic production process, the entire rice area of her family grows and develops well throughout the season, with few pests and diseases, and an average yield of over 200 kg/sao. The entire amount of commercial rice is purchased by businesses at a selling price 1.5 times higher than mass rice.
Up to now, Toan Xuan Company Limited, Yen Luong Commune (Y Yen) is the first and only unit in the province to export rice products to the Japanese market. Mr. Tran Quoc Toan, Director of the Company, said: How to help farmers produce clean rice products, protect consumers' health and get rich is the goal of Toan Xuan. Therefore, the area of organic agricultural production and organic agriculture of the company is increasing each crop. The company has signed a contract with the Vietnam Dairy Group to purchase about 200 thousand tons of cow dung each year, combined with the amount of rice husk waste from the company's rice processing to produce organic fertilizer with the brand name "Five cows". Currently, in the total area of over 900 hectares of rice production each year that the company has signed a contract to purchase products for the people, in the 2024 crop season, up to 80% of the area used "Nam con bo" organic fertilizer to fertilize rice... Evaluating the effectiveness of using organic fertilizer produced and supplied by Toan Xuan Company Limited, Mr. Vu Trong Huan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Trung Kien Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative (Hai Hau) said: "ST24 and ST25 rice fertilized with "Nam con bo" organic fertilizer ripens evenly, the yield increases by 10-15% compared to the control area and most importantly, the quality of the rice is more delicious, ensuring food safety factors. This is a positive direction for local rice".
Comrade Nguyen Van Huu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: In the past time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with relevant departments and branches to advise the province to issue additional specific policies to create incentives to attract investment in agricultural production development such as: encouraging and supporting enterprises and households to lease and concentrate land for large-scale agricultural production; encouraging and supporting organizations and individuals to apply high technology in agricultural production and develop organic agriculture. Supporting and providing technical advice to enterprises participating in building models of linking production and consumption of agricultural products such as Japanese rice production, clean rice production, clean vegetables, tubers, fruits, and production in the direction of organic agriculture. Proactively building experimental and demonstration models for the use of organic fertilizers for rice and vegetables; Organize seminars, training sessions, and share experiences with people, businesses, and cooperatives on techniques for using organic fertilizers in growing food crops. Strengthen coordination with Nam Dinh Newspaper, Nam Dinh Radio and Television to promote propaganda and mobilization, contributing to changing farmers' thinking and production organization methods towards organic, safe, effective, and sustainable agricultural production. In the coming time, the agricultural sector will strengthen and receive trials of new organic fertilizers and organize the replication of models applying scientific and technological advances in production. At the same time, continue to build models of clean agricultural production, organic agriculture, and safe agriculture to meet market demand in order to improve production efficiency for people.
