'Eyes tired' looking for peach branches and twigs on the 15th day of the 12th lunar month

TPO - Every year, people in the capital often buy peach blossom branches to worship on the 15th day of the 12th lunar month. However, this year, finding a satisfactory peach blossom branch has become difficult.

Like every year, on the full moon day of the twelfth lunar month, from peach gardens, traders cut peach branches and small peach branches to sell at Quang Ba and Lac Long Quan flower markets, on the sidewalks of Hanoi streets... This is also the best-selling item on this day.

However, traders said that after storm No. 3 in September, people in Nhat Tan village focused on restoring large peach trees, bonsai peach trees... which are popular items during Tet with high prices, so peach chips and peach branches on the market on the 15th day of the 12th lunar month were not much.

"Every year, many people come to sell, but this year, there are not many peach branches. I went to all the gardens to buy a few branches to sell. Every year, on the morning of the full moon day, I sell 50 branches," a vendor selling peach branches at Quang Ba market shared.

Traders also said that this year's peach branches bloomed late, so it was difficult to sell on the full moon day of December.

"Every year my family buys small peach branches to burn incense on the 15th day of the 12th lunar month, but this year I had to go all the way to Lac Long Quan to buy them because the market near my house doesn't sell them this year," Ms. Huyen (Dong Da) shared.

It is known that peach branches and small peach chips are sold for 150,000 - 400,000 VND depending on the size and number of buds on the branch. This is a price 2 - 3 times higher than last year.

The fact that gardeners did not cut peach trees early after damage from storm No. 3 in September affected the price of peach trees for Tet this year.

"I went around the market but couldn't find a branch that I liked. There were many beautiful branches but few flowers and buds, and the price was high," a customer shared.
