During the 5 days of the April 30 - May 1, 2025 holiday, Mong Cai City welcomed 279,000 tourists , an increase of 68% over the same period in 2024. In particular, many are concentrated in the following locations: Tra Co National Tourist Area, Tra Co Communal House Special National Monument, Mong Cai International Border Gate and Sa Vy Border Information and Propaganda Cluster, Vinh Thuc Lighthouse... In the first 4 months of this year, the city welcomed 1.3 million visitors. Revenue from tourism reached over 3,000 billion VND, an increase of 16% over the same period in 2024. This year, the city strives to welcome 4.8 million visitors.
In recent years, with a convenient transportation system, invested and upgraded tourism infrastructure, and diversified tourism products, Mong Cai border area has attracted a large number of tourists to visit and experience. To meet the increasing demands of tourists, Mong Cai City also sets out requirements to constantly innovate and improve the quality of tourism services, bring special and impressive tourism experiences, and increase the value of Mong Cai tourism brand.
In preparation for the peak summer tourist season of 2025, Mong Cai City has been focusing on improving the quality of existing tourism products, while aiming to develop new tourism products associated with local characteristics, such as: Launching high-end beach resort tourism products in Tra Co, expanding Ben Hen beach (Vinh Trung commune), Dau Dong beach (Vinh Thuc commune), Da Den beach (Binh Ngoc ward); developing eco-tourism products, community, associated with historicaleducation and preserving and promoting typical cultural values of Dao ethnic village (Hai Son commune); renewing and improving the quality of tourism products and services at Tran Phu walking street and Mong Cai market; restoring day border tours and self-driving tourist vehicles; building and putting into operation the Bac Luan border river tourism route...
Local travel agencies are also actively connecting and diversifying tours for different types of customers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, Director of Hai Lam Sa Tourism Company (Mong Cai City) said: “Summer is the peak season for domestic tourists. The unit proactively connects routes, builds many different tours suitable for each group of customers, each customer segment, based on their needs. Summer is also the time to welcome luxury customers with high spending power. Therefore, the unit is actively working with international travel agencies to build tours specifically serving this group of customers, bringing the most satisfaction to tourists”.
Up to now, many hotels in Mong Cai City have been fully booked for weekends from now until the end of June 2025. Accommodation, food and beverage, and shopping establishments have prepared facilities, human resources, food, and necessary conditions to serve tourists; strictly comply with regulations on licensed conditions and standards, product quality, registration, price listing, and selling at the correct listed price. In particular, along with the orientation of increasingly professionalizing tourism services, the tourism workforce is increasingly trained more thoroughly and systematically.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Head of Sales Department at Vikor Legend Hotel, shared: The hotel has proactively planned training and coaching for each position and department on professional skills and customer service attitude. Each employee working here is fully aware that they are a part of building the image of Mong Cai tourism. To build a brand for Mong Cai tourism, each service person must also contribute to it.
In addition to the initiative of business units, local authorities as well as functional forces in the area also strengthen state management of tourism activities. Before the summer tourist season, the city reviewed the operating conditions of service business establishments in the area, reminded and guided units to complete and ensure strict compliance with regulations and standards on product quality, registration, price listing, ensuring fire prevention and fighting, food hygiene and safety. The city promoted the work of guiding, assessing, and granting licenses to meet tourism standards; publicly announced the list of reputable tourism business units; violating units, resolutely not allowing units that do not ensure business conditions to affect the brand and image of Mong Cai tourism in particular and Quang Ninh in general.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Luan, Vice Chairman of Tra Co Ward People's Committee (Mong Cai City), affirmed: The city as well as the ward always maintain regular and effective operation of the tourism hotline, arrange human resources, promptly receive feedback, propose relevant units to resolve and respond to information for people and tourists, as well as promptly handle violations in tourism business activities, affecting the experience of tourists.
