(ABO) On the afternoon of April 12, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang , Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organization Affairs (NGO) chaired a national online conference on the results of NGO work in 2023 and the deployment of directions and tasks for 2024.

There are currently 381 NGOs operating in Vietnam. In 2023, NGOs provided 228.7 million USD in aid, covering most areas of health, education, environment, economic development and social issues.
According to the assessment, NGOs operate in accordance with the Party's guidelines and policies, comply with the State's laws and policies; strengthen coordination with Vietnamese agencies to develop funding plans, contributing to reducing economic and social security difficulties, especially in regions and localities with many difficulties as well as promoting people-to-people foreign relations...
At the conference, delegates shared and discussed the results achieved in mobilizing and cooperating with NGOs; at the same time, proposed and recommended a number of solutions to continue promoting the mobilization of capital from NGOs.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang suggested that it is necessary to focus on implementing tasks, proactively grasp, make recommendations, and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to improve the quality of activities of NGOs in general and activities at the local level in particular. At the same time, it is necessary to innovate methods and forms of aid mobilization, diversify partners and aid sources, link aid mobilization with political and diplomatic mobilization, promote in-depth cooperation and protect Vietnam's interests...
