On the morning of January 9, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang chaired a national online conference to review the work of ensuring traffic order and safety (ATGT) in 2023, and directions and tasks for 2024. At Khanh Hoa bridge, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of departments, branches and sectors attended the conference.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, in 2023, there were 22,067 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 11,628 people and injuring 15,292 people. Compared to 2022, there were a decrease of 1,285 traffic accidents, a decrease of 1,922 deaths, and an increase of 660 injuries. Of which, 33 provinces and centrally run cities had a decrease in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents; 12 localities had an increase in the number of deaths due to traffic accidents of more than 30% (Hung Yen, Lang Son, Kon Tum, Tra Vinh , Son La, Nam Dinh, Long An, Phu Tho, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc, Tay Ninh). The police force has been deployed to handle violations of alcohol concentration with the spirit of "no exceptions, no forbidden zones", thereby handling 770,374 cases of alcohol concentration violations (accounting for more than 23% of the total number of violations of order and traffic safety). In addition, the number of traffic jams nationwide has been reduced after the implementation of non-stop toll collection; the situation of violations of overloading vehicles in localities has been handled and has changed very positively...

In Khanh Hoa alone, in 2023, there were 176 traffic accidents in the province, killing 150 people and injuring 105 people; compared to 2022, the whole province increased by 64 traffic accidents, 33 deaths and 69 injuries. Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang suggested that in the coming time, members of the National Traffic Safety Committee and local Traffic Safety Committees need to properly assess the current situation of violations of traffic order and safety in order to have solutions to reduce accidents in accordance with the practical situation of each locality and region; strengthen the organization of inspection campaigns and strictly handle violations of traffic order and safety. Promote the application of science and technology, exploit the journey monitoring database in the process of managing and handling traffic violations. The Deputy Prime Minister also requested to innovate the work of propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on ensuring traffic order and safety in the direction of taking behavioral changes as criteria for evaluating results...
