In 2024, the agricultural sector strives to achieve a growth rate of 2% in the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production.

In 2023, the Agriculture and Rural Development sector carried out its tasks in complicated weather conditions and high input material prices. However, with the drastic direction of the province, industry, and locality and the flexibility in production of farmers, it contributed to bringing the added value of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery sector to VND 5,216 billion, an increase of 5.29% compared to 2022, ranking first in the Red River Delta and ninth in the country.

During the year, the industry supported nearly 738 tons of new rice varieties of all kinds with an area of nearly 14,800 hectares; nearly 2.2 million fish of all kinds on an area of 140 hectares; nearly 1,800 hectares of safe vegetables and fruits according to VietGAP; vaccinated livestock and poultry twice and sprayed disinfectants to disinfect the livestock environment for 213,000 households; successfully built 2 digital transformation models; the rate of rural households using clean water according to standards reached 81.36%.

Implementing the assigned targets and tasks, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has completed 2 contents assigned by the Provincial Party Committee; 20 targets and tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee; completed 17 contents on socio -economic development tasks according to Decision No. 708 of the Provincial People's Committee. Provincial People's Committee on the Project to remove bottlenecks; 18 contents according to plan No. 182 of the Provincial People's Committee.

To achieve the target of increasing the value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production by 2% by 2024, the agriculture and rural development sector will focus on developing concentrated agricultural commodity production areas of appropriate scale, organizing chain production for key products; at the same time, encouraging the development of clean agriculture, organic agriculture, and local endemic products.

Concluding the conference, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Hai affirmed that the achievements of the sector have made important contributions to the growth of the province. At the same time, he requested that affiliated units, departments and offices continue to review, complete and develop mechanisms and policies to create motivation for agricultural and rural development; develop agricultural, forestry and fishery production to ensure the completion of targets according to the plan ; reorganize the apparatus, streamline the payroll and improve the quality of civil servants and public employees; promote administrative reform, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of sector management.

In the immediate future, focus on instructing farmers on how to prepare the land, sow rice , and store enough water for irrigation right from the first crop. Ensure the planting of all winter-spring rice areas ; proactively prevent cold for crops, livestock, and aquatic products, especially for buffalo and cow herds ; strengthen quality management, food hygiene and safety before, during and after the Lunar New Year ; coordinate the planting of scattered trees to ensure the set plan.
