In the new school year, students in grades 4, 8, and 11 will study textbooks according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the 2018 General Education Program will be applied at primary, secondary and high school levels for students in grades 4, 8 and 11.
According to the decision of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, from the 2023-2024 school year, educational institutions in the city will use textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11 from the approved versions in the list.
Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved 27 textbooks for grade 4 for all subjects: math, Vietnamese, ethics, science, experiential activities, history and geography, technology, music , fine arts, English, etc. These books were compiled and published by Vietnam Education Publishing House, University of Education Publishing House, Hue University Publishing House, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Publishing House.

For grade 8, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved 36 textbooks for 11 subjects, including 4 math textbooks from 4 book sets: Canh troi sang tao, Ket tuc tri vo vi doi, Coc khach phap ; 3 literature textbooks from 3 book sets: Chan troi sang tao, Canh troi, Ket tuc tri vo vi doi... For grade 11, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee announced the approval of 62 textbooks for 15 subjects implemented in the 2018 general education program. From the list of textbooks approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training, informed: "According to the circular of the Ministry of Education and Training, schools will comply with the selection made if the textbooks are in the list approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. In case the previous selections are not in the list of approved textbooks, the school will agree and choose a textbook in the list approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for students and teachers to use in a way that is most suitable for the 2018 General Education program at the unit".
