1. House on Elliðaey Island, Iceland
Elliðaey is a small uninhabited island off the south coast of Iceland, famous for its steep, rugged cliffs. This makes it seem unfriendly to humans. That's why the appearance of a small white house on this island has made many people curious.
According to Mirror, this single house has no neighbors, it seems to have been abandoned for 100 years. This is also the source of mysterious anecdotes about its origin and the reason why it was built on such a small isolated island.

The most common rumor is that a billionaire built the house as a shelter in case of a zombie outbreak. Another source speculates that a hermit may live there. There are also rumors that the Icelandic government gifted the island to famous singer Bjork, but these have been denied.
Contrary to popular belief, Elliðaey Island was once home to five Icelandic families three centuries ago. They made a living by fishing and raising cattle on the island. However, the last inhabitants left in the 1930s. Since then, the island has been abandoned. More than 20 years later, the Elliðaey Hunters Association established the island as a base for seabird hunting and as a place for its members to live.

Because it is located on a remote island and is isolated from the outside world , this house has no electricity or water system. However, there is a sauna that uses a natural rainwater collection system. If you want to visit this island, you need to overcome terrifying waves, then jump from the boat to the slope of the island to catch a rope to the island. This is definitely not a journey for the faint of heart as they face the cold water below and the almost vertical cliff above.
Despite its lack of human habitation, Elliðaey Island is considered a national nature reserve and is home to many of Iceland's endemic seabird species.
- 2. Buffa di Perrero in the Dolomite Mountains, Italy
High in the Dolomite Mountains of Italy is a secluded house called “Buffa Di Perrero”. This wooden house confuses viewers with its perfect “camouflage” in the rugged mountain terrain. Accordingly, Buffa di Perrero is hidden in the rock. It has a sloping roof, two doors and four windows framed in wood. The inside of the house is also very simply designed with a few white wooden chairs, placed haphazardly. It is almost completely isolated from the outside world, so it is also known as “the loneliest house in the world”.

According to Domain.com, Buffa di Perrero is over 100 years old. It was built by Italian soldiers during World War I as a shelter and resting place. Because this house is located at an altitude of nearly 2,800m above sea level, those who want to access it can only choose to climb the mountain, overcome dangerous rocks or follow a challenging trail. This is definitely not an adventure for the faint-hearted or inexperienced because according to experts, participants must be in "extremely good physical condition" to be able to go up. Although it does not bring a sense of safety, Buffa di Perrero has attracted climbers and explorers to visit for many years.

The house has fallen into disrepair after being abandoned and neglected for so long. The local newspaper Il Dolomiti reported that Buffa di Perrero had become “unusable” because the roof had collapsed. Images from rescue teams on the Cortina d'Ampezzo mountain showed snow often falling through the collapsed roof. Inside, broken pieces of wood were strewn across the floor, looking very messy.
