T-Mobile's algorithmic approach is AI-based, using billions of data points gathered from customer experiences across the network.

According to T-Mobile network chief Ulf Ewaldsson, the carrier combines it with business data and what customers are doing with the 5G network, then assigns lifetime value (CLV) to a nationwide grid to know exactly where to satisfy customers.

T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said the approach involves upgrading and adapting the 5G network. T-Mobile has tens of thousands of projects in the pipeline, he said, ranked based on some practical concerns like zoning and licensing, but mostly based on the output from an AI-based algorithmic model. It helps the carrier stay ahead of demand.

T-Mobile added 865,000 postpaid mobile subscribers in the third quarter, significantly more than AT&T and Verizon. The telecom attributed this to prepaid customers switching to postpaid plans, as well as lower churn rates and higher total customer additions.

T-Mobile also added 415,000 fixed wireless customers, about the same as the previous quarter.

On the financial front, T-Mobile's service revenue increased 5% year-over-year to $16.7 billion, and postpaid service revenue reached $13.3 billion, up 8%.
