During the historic days of May, with many exciting patriotic emulation activities, the whole country remembered beloved Uncle Ho - the great leader of the nation, commemorating and celebrating the 134th anniversary of his birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2024). Throughout his life and revolutionary career, President Ho Chi Minh always cared for, cared for, and encouraged the strength of the entire nation, attracting the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people to enthusiastically participate in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the country.

Create a ripple effect for emulation movements

President Ho Chi Minh was the first Vietnamese to raise and skillfully connect patriotism with emulation, pointing out the essential relationship between these two categories and elements. This has created a strong, sustainable spirit for the patriotic emulation movement, always closely linked to the development of the nation.

From the revolutionary process, President Ho Chi Minh realized the close relationship, the necessity of linking patriotism and emulation. According to him, emulation must come from the spirit of patriotism, national consciousness, civic responsibility with the will to strive and promote both material and spiritual strength. Emulation is not only a positive and creative activity in production and combat, but also an ideological and spiritual activity, a manifestation of patriotism, of affection for the Fatherland and homeland.

He emphasized: “Emulation based on patriotism” will make the emulation movement of our people have an extremely strong, long-lasting spiritual strength, develop continuously, and be closely linked to the development of the nation. On the contrary, “patriotism must be shown in practical work, in Patriotic Emulation”, not just patriotism. He also explained: “Emulation is a practical and active way of patriotism”, emulation will foster and promote the patriotism of the nation.

Arouse patriotism

The nature of the relationship between emulation and patriotism is always raised regularly and directly, and therefore, when organizing an emulation movement, it is necessary to arouse the spirit of patriotism. Although it may be necessary to take into account other factors, other motivations, including material interests in organizing an emulation movement, especially in the current market economy, the political-spiritual motivation, the core of which is patriotism, must always be the basic, dominant and decisive motivation.

In practice, to have an emulation movement that attracts the participation of all classes of people, the top priority is to find common ground, a common ground that both meets the diverse and multifaceted interests of each member and ensures the highest interests of the nation. Patriotism is that common ground.

When launching the patriotic emulation movement, President Ho Chi Minh not only focused on the interests of society and the country, but also harmoniously and closely combined them with personal interests. He advised: "Patriotic emulation is beneficial to oneself, also beneficial to one's family, and beneficial to the village, the country, and the nation."

By linking emulation with patriotism and patriotism with emulation, President Ho Chi Minh created for our people's patriotic emulation movement the identity of the Vietnamese nation, that is, linking ideology and spirit with practical action, saying goes with doing. This is one of the vivid manifestations of the unique features in Ho Chi Minh's ideology on patriotic emulation.

Through patriotic emulation movements, the patriotism of the masses is aroused, nurtured and promoted, turning the will of each citizen into concrete and practical actions in production, combat, study and work with great achievements and glorious victories./.
