In a statement on May 28, Foreign Minister Lavrov said the Russian delegation had prepared a memorandum outlining the terms for reaching a lasting solution to the conflict.

"Our delegation led by Russia's top negotiator Vladimir Medinsky is ready to present this memorandum to the Ukrainian delegation and explain it in detail during the second round of direct negotiations scheduled to resume in Istanbul on June 2," the Russian Foreign Minister said.

Mr Lavrov expressed hope that: "All those who are genuinely interested in the success of the peace process, and not just talking about it, will support a new round of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul".

Lavrov also thanked Türkiye, the United States and Saudi Arabia for facilitating the dialogue between Moscow and Kiev. He added that after the first talks on May 16, Russia and Ukraine conducted the largest prisoner exchange to date, with each side releasing 1,000 prisoners.

Earlier on May 28, Mr. Medinsky called the head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and gave a specific date for the next meeting, where the two delegations are expected to exchange their memorandums.

"The Ukrainian side has discussed the proposal and the discussions seem to be continuing. We are waiting for their confirmation as soon as possible and are ready to meet the Kiev delegation directly to start working in the coming days," Medinsky said.
