Driving license test will use 600 new theory questions from June 1

The new set of road motor vehicle driving test questions will be designed to closely follow and upgrade the old set of questions according to the theory in legal documents.

According to the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security , the new set of road motor vehicle driving test questions consisting of 600 questions will be applied from June 1, 2025. Compared to the previous set compiled by the Ministry of Transport, the number of theoretical questions remains the same. However, many questions have been revised and supplemented.

The new set of road motor vehicle driving test questions will be designed to closely follow and upgrade the old set of questions according to the theory in legal documents related to road and railway traffic safety. Therefore, the Traffic Police Department believes that the new set of theory questions will not cause difficulties for students.

Driving license test will use 600 new theory questions from June 1.

The questions in the new set of questions are divided into 6 chapters, including:

Chapter 1: includes 180 questions on general regulations and road traffic rules;

Chapter 2: includes 25 questions about traffic culture, driver ethics, fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue skills;

Chapter 3: includes 58 questions on driving techniques;

Chapter 4: includes 37 questions on structure and repair;

Chapter 5: includes 185 questions about road signs;

Chapter 6: includes 115 questions about driving test and traffic handling skills.

Among them, the group of questions that have been revised, supplemented, and newly drafted the most are general regulations as well as road traffic rules. The group of questions that have changed the least are related to driving courses or signs.

In addition, the new exam set no longer includes a chapter on transportation operations like the old exam set. Instead, drivers who want to operate commercial vehicles will have to complete a separate training course to obtain a license to practice.

In addition, the number of questions used for each driving class has also changed compared to the old set of questions. The reason is that the license classes have changed.

Accordingly, the driving license test for classes B, C1, C, D1, D2, D and classes BE, C1E, CE, D1E, D2E, DE (trailer) will use 600 questions, including 60 questions on handling serious traffic safety situations, also known as failing points. For class B1 driving license, 300 questions will be used with 30 failing points. The corresponding number for class A1 and A driving licenses is 250 questions and 20 failing points.

Each question will have only one answer. With zero points, if you get just one question wrong in this group, you will fail the theory section.
